One is my favourite, one is my husband's. Our baby girl is already here!

Which do you prefer?

Grace

Elizabeth known as Beth

100% Grace for me 😊
Really dislike Elizabeth, don't mind Beth so much. But grew up being known as a short version of a longer name - always wished my parents just called me the shorter version and eventually changed it by deed poll.

Hellocatshome · 29/04/2023 20:41

Grace or if you are going to call them Beth anyway why not Bethany which I think is nicer than Elizabeth.

PrimarilyParented · 29/04/2023 20:42

Elizabeth. Lots of variants of it available as they grow up and choose the one they like best.

Grace - common as anything (I’m a teacher who has 5 in one class alone) and a rather boring name in my opinion.

toothbrusher · 29/04/2023 20:43

Prefer Grace but like Elizabeth nn Lizzie almost as much!

IggyAce · 29/04/2023 20:44

Elizabeth as long as you’re prepared for them to reject your preferred shorting when they are older.

Me too, re the deed poll.

But I like the name Elizabeth much better than Grace. Grace doesn’t work well in many accents.

Clarabell77 · 29/04/2023 20:45

I prefer Grace over Beth but do like Elizabeth.

simonthedog · 29/04/2023 20:46

Elizabeth/Beth

DramaAlpaca · 29/04/2023 20:47

Elizabeth. It's classic and more versatile in terms of diminutives, though I'm not keen on Beth.

I've never liked the name Grace, and it's everywhere.

Pamalot · 29/04/2023 20:47

Grace

PickledScrump · 29/04/2023 20:53

Elizabeth- Beth is absolutely beautiful. Grace is so dull and common

Snugglemonkey · 29/04/2023 21:02

I hate Beth but do like Elizabeth. Grace is boring.

CurlewKate · 29/04/2023 21:14

My dd is 25-when we named her Grace it was really unusual. Then, in a couple of years they were everywhere. So just choose a name you like-who knows whether it'll turn popular on you. And honestly, it doesn't matter if it does!

shoopshoopdedoo · 29/04/2023 21:15

Elizabeth.

I also really like Grace but could never use it as I am v clumsy and sense I’d be giving any child of mine unrealistic expectations… 😂

Whatisityoucantface · 29/04/2023 22:18

Grace
The names go well together so you could
middle name one: Elizabeth Grace or Grace Elizabeth
If you call her Elizabeth she might decide to shorten it to something else eg Liza, Lizzie, Liz. If you call her Grace, she can’t shorten it

cheapskatemum · 29/04/2023 22:19

I prefer Grace

Sandysandwich · 29/04/2023 22:21

Beth / Elizabeth

RosesAndHellebores · 29/04/2023 22:22

Elizabeth: Liz, Lizzie, Betty, Betsy, Lili, Beth, Bet.

Grace: wonderful if they are graceful - not so wonderful if they are a glonk or a hefelump.

Ikeameatballs · 29/04/2023 22:22

I prefer Elizabeth but not to be known as Beth.

Hadtocomment · 29/04/2023 23:00

Beth.

Luredbyapomegranate · 29/04/2023 23:12

Elizabeth nn Beth

Grace is ok but a little close to grease for me

Haven’t heard hefelump for years..

Aquamarine1029 · 29/04/2023 23:17

You can do better.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 29/04/2023 23:21

Meh. Both names are on the bland side of alright.

If you go with Elizabeth, there are much nicer shortenings than Beth in my opinion. Eliza is my favourite but this could also be a name on its own. I taught a Betty who was Elizabeth a few years ago and it really suited her.

Carsarelife · 29/04/2023 23:28

Grace - as dull as dishwater

Elisabeth - great as are all the varients - Eliza, Beth, Lizzy, Liz, Betty etc
