MrsMitford3 · 13/04/2023 21:46

PickledScrump · 13/04/2023 21:46

Caelen is better.

UnsureSchool32 · 13/04/2023 21:46

I know one! Spelt Kaylan.
It’s a chavvy one. Soz!

DeedlessIndeed · 13/04/2023 21:46

Not my cup of tea, sorry OP

WuTangGran · 13/04/2023 21:47

😂

Mocky · 13/04/2023 21:48

Why would you?

LulooLemon · 13/04/2023 21:49

It's no to to all spellings of this name from me.

AnuSTart · 13/04/2023 21:49

Hmmmm this won't go well.

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/04/2023 22:10

Oh OP, stop with the wind up.

BettyBoopy · 13/04/2023 22:11

It's a bit Chavvy sorry. Up there with Jayde and Kai

This.

Stripycatz · 13/04/2023 22:13

It sounds a bit... Klingon.

tatteddear · 13/04/2023 22:15

Not a name

spiderlight · 13/04/2023 22:16

I know a fabulous young man called Caelan and really like it. It's a derivative of 'Nicholas'. I'm not so keen on the K spelling though.

Unicorntastic · 13/04/2023 22:17

Sounds like kaolin (and Morphine) to me.

soundsystem · 13/04/2023 22:23

Cailean?

mamaduckbone · 13/04/2023 22:33

I know a lovely Caelen, a very bright young man who I used to teach, so it has positive associations for me. I also know a female Kaelen so to me it sounds like a girls name. Not a made up name as others are saying though.

ODFOx · 13/04/2023 22:38

It's an unusual name. Is it pronounced Kay or Kai at the beginning?
Either way it is quite pleasant to say.
Congratulations Flowers

Itcouldhappenabishop · 13/04/2023 22:46

It's a made up, chavvy name.

Beginningless · 13/04/2023 22:48

To me not chavvy at all but it’s Caelan.

LadyGAgain · 13/04/2023 22:51

Kay/lan
So far from chavvy.
Asian name.

defi · 13/04/2023 23:02

Mumsnet is painfully snobby towards names that aren't white middle class. I don't expect you'll get many nice responses.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 13/04/2023 23:31

It's an old Irish name for those of you hasten to judgement and can't use google ffs.

www.thebump.com/b/kaelan-baby-name

Personally I prefer it with a C, it's softer somehow but I went to school many moons ago with someone with the name.

Depending on where you are in Ireland it is pronounced differently. Bit like Saoirse Ronan, even in Ireland people don't "get it right" in her opinion.

So it can be a hard Keel - in ; a Cweel-in: a keel- awn and so on.

If you are living in the UK I wouldn't go there. He's spend his life explaining his name to the type of posters you have already seen here 🤦🏼‍♀️

margegunderson · 13/04/2023 23:32

Know a Keelan.
