I LOVE the name Wallace but worried the whole "where's wally" will get too much

Opinions please

Yep, he’ll be Wally!

NuffSaidSam · 03/04/2023 20:06

I think 'Where's Wally' will be the least of his problems tbh!

Toomucho · 03/04/2023 20:08

Where's Gromit?

Stripycatz · 03/04/2023 20:08

I think he'll get "any more cheeeese Gromit" a lot.

Calmondeck · 03/04/2023 20:59

Would you consider Walter so he can get Walt, if any nickname? Or is it the soft ending of Wallace you like?

NillyNoMates · 03/04/2023 21:06

Don’t do it to him.

MrsBunnyEars · 03/04/2023 21:07

Taking away all the context, Wallace is a nice sounding name.

But you really can’t! Sorry.

Macaroni46 · 03/04/2023 21:08

No. Don't do it

lunar1 · 03/04/2023 21:09

You cant do that to a human child.

TortolaParadise · 03/04/2023 21:09

Yes

ShippingNews · 03/04/2023 21:09

How about Willis ?

Justyouwaitandseeagain · 03/04/2023 21:11

I went to college with someone known to all as Wallace, when it was actually his surname

User6761 · 03/04/2023 21:17

Common surname in Scotland, a particularly famous bearer being William Wallace! That's all I associate it with - went to school with several people with the surname, never resulted in any nicknames.

What you talkin’ bout, Willis…

Dancemonkee · 03/04/2023 21:18

I know a baby Wallace nn Wally given by the parents! Father is Scottish. But please don't do it.

Wonnle · 03/04/2023 21:38

Barnes is one nickname

MissMoodyMoo · 03/04/2023 21:45

I am scottish and live in Scotland I actually know a Wallace that's never been called wally but I'm just unsure

🤣🤣🤣 just spat my tea out at that! Brilliant!

junebirthdaygirl · 03/04/2023 21:57

Around here it's Walter that ends up with Wally at times. But Wallace is a great name. I would go for it.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 03/04/2023 21:59

How about Willis ?

So OP is concerned that Wallace will become Wally.... any thoughts about what Willis might be shortened to?!

Barleysugar86 · 03/04/2023 23:53

I think wheres wally and using wally to mean silly has had its day. My son has one wheres wally book but it held only a short passing interest to him. In the 90s this may have been a thing but I don't think it's likely now.

Axahooxa · 03/04/2023 23:56

It’ll be fine.

IsaiditwasLighthearted · 04/04/2023 00:17

As you're in Scotland, I think it'll be a lot better accepted than it would be elsewhere.

Also a Scot here and I like it! Though I do think of it as more of a surname.
