I LOVE the name Wallace but worried the whole "where's wally" will get too much

You are setting him up for a lifetime of teasing. I thought Wallace was a female name anyway.

BigCheeseSandwich · 06/04/2023 19:19

There’s a Wallace in my DD’s class - no nickname, no teasing.

You can’t predict a nickname, the nicknames I can think of are all so random, based on physical traits or something they once did aged 5 etc…

My BIL is a Walter….but known to everyone else as something very different, don’t do it!

Sugarfree23 · 06/04/2023 19:31

I knee two Wallaces and never heard either of them get any sort of nickname. Although they are both of the older generation.

It's probably a name that's due a come back esp in Scotland.

Sugarfree23 · 06/04/2023 19:33

I don't think I've heard of a Walter who hasn't become know as Wattie

Switchwitch · 06/04/2023 19:37

What about Horace?

I think 'Where's Wally' will be the least of his problems tbh!

😂

HappyMe6 · 06/04/2023 19:41

Don’t do it to him

What you talkin’ bout, Willis…

I was going to say this too 🤣. showing our age remembering Willis and Arnold! lol

Sugarfree23 · 06/04/2023 19:49

Who'd Willis & Arnold ?

ArDi · 06/04/2023 19:50

I think it’s a great name. In my experience all the predictions of what nickname someone will have rarely come to pass, because:
(a) most people aren’t dicks
(b) bullies will find anything to latch onto, name or not
(c) anyone who fixates on a facile name-based nickname is severely lacking in imagination, and is to be pitied. As a strong, resilient child your son will recognise this and not be affected by being called Wally. My maiden name could be shortened to a diminutive term for male genitalia. Those who tried it stopped when they realised what a lame attempt it was as an insult.
