Elowyn - we didn't use this for our DD because it clashed with our surname. Also DH wasn't keen.

Margaret - DH hated this. I loved it.

Hallie - ditto

Alethea - ditto

Elisaveta/Vittoria - I love both of these but we have no Italian/Eastern European connection whatever so would have felt odd using them.

Our DD's name has been mentioned though.

Martha. It was my Grandmas name but my husband veto'd it

Genevieve

(I have only sons)

Fern

That's made me think of 'phone' said in a cod French accent as used by Inspector Clouseau or 'Allo Allo'. "Ze fern is ringing. Oo it can be?" 😁

Aoife.

Defo would’ve used it if I’d had a girl!

That's really become popular, hasn't it?
I know 3 newborns with that name. I'm in Yorkshire.

My favourite girl's name was always Julie, so that's what my daughter is called. 🙂

Alessia - to me it feels powerful and feminine

Clara and Juliette are my close favourites

Also adore Alessia and Clara.

Also love Alanna, Anna, Valentina, Elizabeth, Cara.

When I was a child I (think I) invented a name Astarra. I'd secretly love to use it!

Sleepless1096 · 10/03/2023 17:32

If there was a similar thread for boys, I've always liked the sound of both Lucifer and Judas. Much better than Gabriel and Jude imo and the boring Matthew, Mark, Luke and John etc.

Obviously I didn't use either of these for my DS, but I can't help thinking they're both great names spoilt by their biblical connotations.

purplesky18 · 10/03/2023 17:33

I don’t know if I’m just an uncultured swine but my brain has a hard time reading calliope, aoife, persophone and those types of ancient/Irish names, I just can’t fathom how you pronounce them and I go to mush.

The prettiest girls names in my opinion are Violet, Blossom, Cleo, Pearl and Posie. A lot of which mumsnet would call twee 😃

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 10/03/2023 17:33

I have always loved Jenny & Briony

BrutusMcDogface · 10/03/2023 17:35

I love Xanthe. Since Encanto I now have a soft spot for Mirabelle! It’s beautiful.

Neither of my daughters have names that I really, really always loved to be honest. Sad but true that dp and I had such different tastes in names. I adore their names because they belong to them, of course, but probably wouldn’t have picked them if I had had the babies on my own! 😂

LizzieMacQueen · 10/03/2023 17:35

I like Louisa and Claudia. Helen too actually.

I thought LOD was common shorthand for Line of Duty !

BrutusMcDogface · 10/03/2023 17:36

Katie is probably one of my all time faves but my sil is Katie 🙄

bridgetreilly · 10/03/2023 17:36

Cecily

Princesspeach31 · 10/03/2023 17:36

Amelia
Giulia
Emma
Alice
Laurel

And my own daughter’s name, Sophie

I love the classic, gentle names

Sgtmajormummy · 10/03/2023 17:36

I like names with lots of vowels and my favourite Italian girl’s name is
Eleonora.
Too close to Nora Batty for the English.

For family reasons we went with the female version of FIL’s name.
It’s mellifluous and I still love it.
If you dig deep enough, DD’s name means Forest Dawn.

Charmatt · 10/03/2023 17:41

Iona, but I could never use it with my last name!
