I cannot decide between these two names! I need help!

I have two names which I love, along with middle names.

  • Emelia Alexandra
  • Alexandra Elizabeth
I cannot decide! thoughts?

I like Alexandra Elizabeth best but would prefer Emelia Alexandra if Emelia was spelt ‘Emilia’.

Emelia is awful. Emilia is nice. Not keen on Amelia. Emelia looks like a mish-mash of the two and not in a good way.
Alexandra is classic and a bit long, but can be Alex, Zandra, Sandy, Sasha etc.

I prefer Alexandra Elizabeth as it feels stronger to me somehow. However, I still like your other option and think overall, both lovely.

Don’t decide now, and see what suits her when she is born.

Alternatively, practice saying the names out loud to see what sounds right.

Another option is the coin toss option (taught to me by mil). Toss a coin, and before it’s landed, you’ll know the correct name, as up you’ll be secretly hoping it lands on that name.

Alexandra has more opportunities for nicknames and fewer opportunities for misspellings. I'd go for that every time.

If you choose Alexandra everyone will call her Alex or Lexi I would imagine?

It depends a bit on the surname and whether or not you have a diminutive in mind.
Initials might be EAR or EAT.
I think that most Emilias end up saying 'Emilia not Amelia' quite a lot.
There are a lot of Amelia, Emilia, Amelie, Mila, and Emilys out there

Alexandra Elizabeth is quite a lot of syllables.

I prefer Emilia. I quite like Alexandra but to me it always sounds like a bit of a grand name. Like it should be the name of a queen or an Empress! Also, all the little Alexandras I know are called Lexi which I REALLY dislike.
Emilia is lovely and has some nice shortening.

Elizabeth Alexandra or Alexandra Elizabeth.

That said, if you're down to 2 wait until she is born. She might just fit one better.

I prefer Alexandra Elizabeth of the 2 options offered

I really like Alexandra but it is a bit of a mouthful and I don't love all the options for nicknames (don't mind Alex but don't really like Lexi)
I much prefer the nickname options for Elizabeth (Liz, Lizzie, Eliza, Beth, Betty etc) so that would get my vote as a first name above Alexandra

I'm a bit bored of all the Emilia/Emily/Amelia/Amelie etc variations if I'm honest and agree with others that your spelling may cause confusion

Emelia is not a name. Amelia is, as is Emilia (which is much nicer).

Alexandra is the best of all of them

Alexandra. I was going to call DD2 Emilia but decided that she'd spend most of her life having to spell it for people! So we went with Harriet Amelia
