Stella and Flora for sisters?

Do the names work together? Does it come off as a bit matchy and themed or do they sound nice together?

OP posts:

They are quite similar ending. Personally I wouldn’t. Out of the two I’d go Flora, it’s absolutely beautiful. Stella is old and frumpy to me.

Starseeed · 03/03/2023 18:05

I like them together - stars and flowers, pretty.

Though agree Stella on its own feels a bit dated.

JussathoB · 03/03/2023 18:07

Flora and Estelle?
Flora and Adele?
Flora and Sophia?

FayCarew · 03/03/2023 18:11

Both are lovely.
Not keen on Estelle and dislike Adele. Sophia overused.

Summergarden · 03/03/2023 18:13

I think they sound lovely together and are both beautiful names.

TheIsleOfTheLost · 03/03/2023 18:13

I like it and don't think they are too similar. Many girls names end in a. Flora and Dora would be too similar.

Jodielou5972 · 03/03/2023 18:15

When I first read the question my brain thought you meant Stella the alcohol 🤦🏻‍♀️

Upsidedownagain · 03/03/2023 18:16

They don't 'run off the tongue' to my mind, so are hard to say together. Stella is less fashionable than Flora too, so they create different images.

I'd try to find a name that sounded better with Flora and was more current. Maybe NOT ending in a?

Upsidedownagain · 03/03/2023 18:18

Flora and Sophie? (Better than Flora and Sophia)

Ellie and Flora?

Spanielsarepainless · 03/03/2023 18:22

Flora and Clover?

iwasthewalrus · 03/03/2023 18:23

@Daisychained8 - do you already have a Stella?

I think they sound good together but before people start suggesting alternatives it would be useful to know if you already have a daughter with one of these names

bluesky45 · 03/03/2023 18:23

Not sure I agree with Stella being dated. Maybe it was a few years ago but feel it's coming into its own again. I know 3 Stella's. One is a woman in her 70s (ish). One is a woman of late twenties/early thirties and she is absolutely beautiful and also a lovely person. One is a small girl aged around 5, also very pretty and girly and sweet. So I would say my opinion has gone from a bit dated when I just knew the older Stella, to now thinking more of the younger 2 and having those connotations.

JussathoB · 03/03/2023 18:49

Flora and Bella?

DeNeushoornHeeftEenHoorn · 03/03/2023 18:52

Totally disagree with the consensus above.

Stella is gorgeous.
Flora is a margarine and very meh.

FatGirlSwim · 03/03/2023 18:59

Beautiful combination.

FayCarew · 03/03/2023 19:01

but @DeNeushoornHeeftEenHoorn , if Flora is margarine, isn't Stella lager?
I like both but not the products.

TinfoilTangerine · 03/03/2023 19:12

I think they're both good names, or would be if they weren't also product names. By itself Stella would be fine. Equally by itself Flora would work, but both together is too much.

Lamelie · 03/03/2023 19:13

Beautiful!

I think this has hit the nail on the head.

iloveburmese3 · 03/03/2023 19:14

Love love love Stella

WhisperingAutistic · 03/03/2023 19:14

Sounds like a shopping list
Lager and margarine

JussathoB · 03/03/2023 19:14

But you know what it’s like when you ask about names OP, you get a lot of different opinions

Odile13 · 03/03/2023 19:25

I like both names. I think the combination is nice. Maybe the product link would put me off a bit but I didn’t think of it before reading the other opinions above.

MrsJaneyLloydFoxe · 03/03/2023 19:36

Flora is awfully try hard

NameOchangeO1 · 03/03/2023 20:43

I think they are lovely, OP.
