Before i add it to my list, is this nice or just hormones talking?

I've known a couple of Siennas over the years so this seems like a slightly unusual take on it.

I looked at the stats for its usage over the years in my country and while its never been super common, the last couple of years has seen a spike in the number of girls named Vienna. (38 since 1974 but 23 of those were in the last 5 years)

It's lovely & I know of a child called Vienna
So if you like it use it!

SeasonsBleatings · 20/02/2023 18:45

It would be a no from me but if you love it go for it

VeryQuaintIrene · 20/02/2023 18:46

Makes me think of the Ultravox song ("this means nothing to me") but I am old.

TheVanguardSix · 20/02/2023 18:47

I would assume you either love the city or the sausage or the whirls. It’s a stern ‘Nein!’ from me. I really wouldn’t.

quietnightmare · 20/02/2023 18:47

Viennetta ice cream.. but other than that it's lovely

35965a · 20/02/2023 18:48

I just think of the song Vienna or Viennetta (the ice cream)

whytesnow · 20/02/2023 18:48

Loveeee

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 20/02/2023 18:49

All I hear is the song.

Vivianna?

I was just about to comment this!! 🤣

ScentOfAMemory · 20/02/2023 18:49

Sienna isn't even the correct spelling of the city people think they're naming their child after.
Vienna is a nice song and the name of Rigsby's cat in Rising Damp.

LittleBearPad · 20/02/2023 18:50

It means nothing to meeeeeeeeeee!

Oh Vienna!

No.

cocksstrideintheevening · 20/02/2023 18:50

Oooooh Vienna

It's a no from me.

Squirrelsnut · 20/02/2023 18:50

I was going to say Rigsby's cat! Also Vienetta. I wouldn't.

IntentionalError · 20/02/2023 18:50

How about Bratislava instead? Same part of the world, without the dodgy 80s synthpop vibe.

PaintByLetters · 20/02/2023 18:51

I would HATE to be called Vienna.

It feels fussy and over the top. Not a "real name".

It also makes me sing Oooooh Viennnnaaaa which would get annoying very quickly.

fatherfintanstack · 20/02/2023 18:51

I'm not a great fan of either the sound (fussy) or the city so another nein..

barbrahunter · 20/02/2023 18:55

Another vote for Rigsby's cat

toomuchlaundry · 20/02/2023 18:55

As the name is quite rare assume many people will think that is where she was conceived

Choconut · 20/02/2023 18:56

It would be a big no from me.

HuntingoftheSnark · 20/02/2023 18:57

I don't see why not ... but I'm not that keen. I went to primary school with a Verona, which is also unusual.

Was she into threesomes?

I’m not keen on place names for people tbh but my advice would be to not tell people what you are going to name your child in advance, keep it secret until they are born.
Its much harder for people to make upsetting remarks about the name you’ve chosen once it’s already been given to your child.

Me too! (On both counts)

We would do this anyway. We did with DS and that's a much more run of the mill name (and was pretty much my only choice).

I'm just making a shortlist as we don't know sex yet.

DH may well veto it.
