Too old fashioned?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sorry but it is too old fashioned. I always picture Smithy from Gavin and Stacey saying it to Gavin's mum.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 20/02/2023 11:01

Such a pretty name .Definitely not too old fashioned.

Marcipex · 20/02/2023 11:03

I think it’s very pretty!
I think there’s so many Ellas that it doesn’t sound very dated.

Jodielou5972 · 20/02/2023 11:05

I just hear Gavin and Stacey - "Pamelaaa" when I hear the name, sorry!

baublingon · 20/02/2023 11:05

It’s lovely

UsernameIsHarderThanBabyName · 20/02/2023 11:42

I love it

KirstenBlest · 20/02/2023 11:44

Pretty but seems a bit dated. A bit like Barbara in terms of I'd expect a 70 yr old.

ShellsPebbles · 20/02/2023 11:47

I really don’t like it. It sounds too Sheila, Barbara, Hilary for me. It sounds old-fashioned in a bad way.

TeeBee · 20/02/2023 11:48

Oh God, no!

Gremlinsateit · 20/02/2023 11:51

Lovely name :)

stealthninjamum · 20/02/2023 11:51

I love it but associate it with Gavin and Stacey.

matthancockscareer · 20/02/2023 11:52

Baby Pam just No!

FinnRussell · 20/02/2023 11:53

Makes me think of Pamela Anderson. She's lovely but wouldn't be a name I'd choose. Too dated.

StopFeckingFaffing · 20/02/2023 11:54

I'm not a fan sorry

It may be due a come back but not for another 20 odd years I would say

LadyDanburysHat · 20/02/2023 11:54

It's such an awful name. I know a 40 yo one and it seems dreary and old fashioned on her.

Mysmallgarden · 20/02/2023 11:55

Pamela is lovely. Maybe a bit old fashioned, but names come round again.

MrsHGWells · 20/02/2023 11:55

I’ve only ever known two people ever with the name.. all in their 50’s now..

very popular American, increasingly dated on a Mildred type way, and both friends deeply wished for different a name

fruitbrewhaha · 20/02/2023 11:55

I love it! I really think it will come back before Barbara and Sheila. I can see it being a very cool name for a girl.

BabsDylan · 20/02/2023 11:57

I think it’s lovely and due a comeback.

FredandAmy · 20/02/2023 11:59

Lovely name, I know a baby Pammy and it really suits her.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 20/02/2023 11:59

I really like it. Puts me in mind of a jaunty gal from the 1950s who has her own motor car that she zips about town in and a flat that she shares with two pals from boarding school, Nancy and Betsy.

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 20/02/2023 12:03

It's my mum's name and she absolutely hates it (she's 70 btw).

Also, inevitably it will be shortened to Pam. Do you like Pam?

Paturday · 20/02/2023 12:06

Frank Lampard has a Pamela doesnt he? Or maybe it’s Patricia.

David Mitchell and Victoria Coren have a Barbara.

I really like Valerie and Shirley too. I think grandma names are coming in, as they always do generation after generation.

Paturday · 20/02/2023 12:07

I also know a little Peggy and a couple of Daphnes.

SummaLuvin · 20/02/2023 12:08

It's dated, but beyond that I just don't think it's a nice name.
