Would you be kind enough to discuss them with me?

Single parent, no family close. Baby girl expected very soon!

Names I like

Claudia
Romilly
Morgan
Hero
Wendy

All very different. Surname will be a double barrelled one, 3 syllables all up.

Please be kind as I feel pathetic having no one to help me.

How exciting! I wish you all the best of luck.
From your list, I love Claudia and Romilly. Also agree that Hero makes a good middle name if you wanted to use that also.

BasiliskStare · 21/01/2023 17:45

@lonelymummy22 I love Stella as a name - & I think that would have been my choice - it is very classic . But your daughter your choice. She will be her name , whatever. All the very very best to you 💐

BumblebeeWest · 21/01/2023 17:46

Romilly is lovely.

I’m also slightly predisposed towards Wendy because I’ve known two wonderful, interesting, strong women called Wendy, and I’ve never met a horrible one.

BumblebeeWest · 21/01/2023 17:47

P.S. Sorry to hear you’re so alone in your situation. Speaking from (possibly similar) experience, it can be very hard. I hope you have a supportive midwife and are able to get all the additional support you can. Please do DM if you need to - I can’t promise to answer straight away, but will do my best to be at least a bit helpful x

Love Claudia and Romilly. Do like Hero but feel it’s a bold move. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

itsabigtree · 21/01/2023 17:48

Love Claudia.

I think Wendy could be really cute too

PuppaDontPreach · 21/01/2023 17:49

All lovely except Wendy, which is awful.

Fleur405 · 21/01/2023 17:50

I believe the name Wendy was made up by JM Barrie based on a friend of his family whose name he couldn’t pronounce when he was a little boy. So not Welsh!

CPL593H · 21/01/2023 17:50

Congratulations! Claudia is nice but I'm going for Romilly. Have you considered Gwendoline as the long name for Wendy if you go with that? It gives options. Flowers xxx

alotoftutus · 21/01/2023 17:51

I really love Romilly it's so pretty.

Lisbeth50 · 21/01/2023 17:53

Romilly is lovely and Millie/Milly works well as a nn.

I'm not keen on the others. Hero is male, surely. Hera could be a good alternative, maybe as a middle name.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 21/01/2023 17:54

Wendy was made up byJMBarrie. I think it's awful, but I've known some pretty horrible women called Wendy which is probably influencing me.

I really like Morgan.

NoSquirrels · 21/01/2023 17:54

I’m in the Romilly fan club. I love Stella too.

Just wondering about the double-barrelled surname - is that your surname, or yours + father? If it’s not your surname I’d be inclined to use father’s name as a non-hyphenated middle name if it’s important to have in there. I’m personally not a fan of the double-barrel so would try my best not to give my DC one.

Hera is quite cool too. I agree Hero is definitely male.

I really like Morgan.

The only Morgans I've come across are boys, although I'm sure there's girls too. I'm all for strong names for girls but not madly keen on Morgan.

PuppaDontPreach · 21/01/2023 18:00

Hero is definitely female, as in Much Ado.

Reugny · 21/01/2023 18:01

Don't like Claudia sorry. Also they are women in their 50s/60s as they are some of my older siblings friends.

The other names I like in reverse order.
Wendy, Hero, Morgan, Romilly. None are out there.

Reugny · 21/01/2023 18:01

NoSquirrels · 21/01/2023 17:55

It's unisex.

Boringcookingquestion · 21/01/2023 18:02

Congratulations! I love Claudia, it somehow manages to be cute, strong and elegant all at the same time 😊

Yika · 21/01/2023 18:05

Claudia, Romilly, Morgan and Stella are all nice.
Hero I think is a hard name to carry off. What about Hebe?
I don’t like Wendy, personally.

RuthW · 21/01/2023 18:07

Claudia Hero is my fav followed by Romilly Hero.

Fleur405 · 21/01/2023 18:08

Oh also my favourite is Claudia followed by Romilly. I don’t mind Wendy. Was friends with a lovely Wendy at uni.

LighthouseCat · 21/01/2023 18:08

Always loved the name Claudia. I also like Juno or Juniper for a girl, and Tabitha. Congratulations by the way x

lonelymummy22 · 21/01/2023 18:10

Just to clarify, baby is having my surname which is double barrel so can't negotiate on that, the Dad isn't in the picture at all.

I love Stella but my only hesitation is that it was my cats name growing up! A much loved family pet and everyone was devastated when she had to be PTS.

Claudia is because I love Interview with the Vampire
Romilly I found early on but tend to go off it at times maybe as it was on my list early days!
Morgan came to me in a dream and I dreamt it was her name!
Hero is definitely a female name and it's from Shakespeare
Wendy as I've stated I love Peter Pan and think it's a cute name but not sure if it's "back" yet

Thank you all for your thoughts so far! At least we have Romilly almost unanimous.

True! Forgot about her. Grin

I’d still assume make though if I met a baby Hero.
