Thoughts on the name Twyla?

Rose1111 · 17/01/2023 11:59

I recently came across the name Twyla. I love how it sounds & it’s unusual without being too crazy. I definitely don’t know any Twyla’s. What’s other people’s thoughts on it? Will also take other name suggestions. Thanks.

McAvennie · 17/01/2023 12:00

I'd think you were a big fan of Schitts Creek.

TheFamousMrEd · 17/01/2023 12:01

Reminds me of the show Schitts Creek.

IaltagDhubh · 17/01/2023 12:01

Her brother has to be Gawain.

LadyDanburysHat · 17/01/2023 12:02

Schitts Creek

And agree with pp sounds very redneck.

Tomeeornottomee · 17/01/2023 12:02

Try and get a governess named Susan.

TrodOnLegoAgain · 17/01/2023 12:04

Love it because it makes me think of the brilliant dancer and choreographer, Twyla Tharp.

steppemum · 17/01/2023 12:06

sounds made up

or Tyler with a lisp

TheOGCCL · 17/01/2023 12:07

It sounds like someone with a lisp trying to say another name

An ingratiatingly cute lisp though.

SagittariusDwarf · 17/01/2023 12:09

Sounds like a brand of loo roll

Disneyforaweek · 17/01/2023 12:09

Yes it made me think of schitts creek too.

I'm not keen to be honest

How about
Tylda / Tilda
Olivet / Olivette
Lida / Lydia
Ilia / Ilya
Lian
Sanne / Sanna
Kaya / Kaia
Raya / Rya
Tyra

You'll need to make sure she doesn't step on the pavement cracks to get the "tear you to bits bears" in trouble

Rose1111 · 17/01/2023 12:17

Yes I first heard it on schitts creek & thought it was really pretty. Then heard of the famous Twyla Tharp. I was curious to see how it sounded to other people. To me it has the same vibe as Luna etc.

No

PortiasBiscuit · 17/01/2023 12:26

Terry Pritchett, not in a good way.

Greensleeves · 17/01/2023 12:26

Twyfords. Toilets. Nope.

Stepuptowardsinfinity · 17/01/2023 12:29

It's awful. Sorry. Sounds like someone can't spell or pronounce anything properly.

tara66 · 17/01/2023 12:33

It's a 'no' from me.

Rose1111 · 17/01/2023 12:33

I appreciate the honesty it’s fine I’ll cross it off my list lol since there’s brutal people in the room then what about Poppy?

It's the little girl who Susan is governess to, along with brother Gawain, in Hogfather. They are written as fearfully posh (ya, darling).

I'd think it was a pisstake tbh.

Vegetablesupreme · 17/01/2023 12:34

I'm all for unusual names (within reason)but for some reason I don't like it. A lot of people will think they've misheard and you've said Tyler.
But at the end of the day if you like it then go for it.

watchfulwishes · 17/01/2023 12:36

Tilda is better.
