Is Frank awful?

My DH has suggested Frank for DS2, it seems to fit well with DS1 who is Ted and DD Nancy.
Is Frank acceptable in 2023? Or is it ridiculously harsh sounding.
I do not like Franklin could maybe be swayed with Francis but do not love it.

It's one of the ugliest and harshest sounding names around. I can't imagine inflicting it upon a lovely newborn.

I REALLY like the name Frank and it goes great with the names of your other two children. I would probably register him as Francis (particularly if Ted is actually an Edward) but go with Frank day to day.

It's unusual but not out there. I'd go for it if I were you.

Frank is an excellent name IMO. Strong, short, has great meaning (both original and contemporary), can be cutesified to Frankie for a little one if that’s your thing, and won’t date. A classic for all the ages.

no, always reminds me of Frank from eastenders / frank spencer. Terrible name sorry!

I have a six year old Frank and get SO many compliments on his name. His younger brother is Felix if that’s any inspiration for you!

I know a little Frank and he's so cute it's really brought me round to the name. But I must admit, I find it quite a funny name, a little boy called Frank, almost like a joke name iyswim. But then Ted and Nancy are very much in the same genre. I think go for it, you can always call him Frankie when he's little.

There is a Franky in my DDs reception class.

We have a Frank our DS class really suits him. Frankie is a bit softer when they are younger.

I love it, I had two grandparents and great grandparent’s called Frank so have positive associations with it. I don’t like Frankie which is why I didn’t use it myself.

I agree with BumblebeeWest - Frank is a good name now. No one is going to be associating it with a character in a sitcom from fifty years ago!

Frankie seems to be having a revival. I know of 3 now 😳 so Frank isn’t that “out there”. I think it’s a nice, solid name. 😁

It’s a great name and he will be a man for far longer than he will be a boy.
Definitely more popular but not overly common.
I like Francis and Frankie too.

I like it and think it's nice.

I've only ever known one Frank (much older) and he was a sweetheart.

You're going to get some inconsiderate comments like "talk to Frank" (gov drugs campaigns) or rhymes with plank and tank, lank, yank or wank. I hope that doesn't happen btw. My children get bullied because their names are unusual (some would say foreign 🙄).

I think Frank is a good name. There are also quite a few Frankies about.

I love it, it sounds really cute for a baby/child but also good for a man. Do it!

I love it!

Look at the baby frank books, they are great, it's about a baby named Frank who robs a bank because he wants a zoo, there's a few of them now :)

Frank is lovely. Francis is horrendous, such a wet name for a boy

Frank is an excellent, strong, masculine name. A proper man’s name.
