Leila Clementine or Cassia Betsy?

We've narrowed down our name choices to the following. Would really appreciate if you could say which you like best? Or point out any howlers about either I've not noticed Blush

Leila Clementine
Cassia Betsy

Baby is due very shortly and is a girl. DH and I are agreed on each of the name's spelling (Layla v Leila took about 2 months!) and the order of first and middle names is because he doesn't care what she has for a middle name but doesn't like either Betsy or Clementine for a first name.

Brother is Leo.

Thanks!

Although Leila and Leo???
What about Clementine Leila instead?

Or

Ophelia Clementine
Eloise Clementine
Beatrix Clementine
Camille Clementine

Ophelia Clementine Is that to make sure it’s still fresh? 😆

LaLaLouella · 12/01/2023 21:23

Ophelia Clementine? Future career on the fruit and veg at Tesco 😂

BabyFour2023 · 12/01/2023 21:40

Not ophelia Betsy under any circumstance…

Ophelia bets
Il feel ya bits 🙈🙈🙈🙈

Greenfairydust · 12/01/2023 21:42

I am sorry but both options are odd name combinations.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 12/01/2023 21:44

Leila Clementine.
Cassia and Betsey are both awful.

LuckeyBuoy · 12/01/2023 21:50

Leila is too similar to Leo (and she will spend her entire life saying "it's Layla, not Leela or Lye-la").

Cassia is a very good name, as is Clementine. I knew I was only having one shot at naming a girl, so I gave her all the names I liked best. So she has several middle names. I suggest you go for Cassia Clementine Betsy Grin

@PinkSyCo hang fast while I alert the townsfolk to make ready the parade 🙄

No need to get sarky just because you were proved wrong.

ThorsBedazzler · 12/01/2023 21:54

Betsy Clementine

MissHavershamReturns · 12/01/2023 21:55

I would go for Cassia and then a different middle name. Or Elizabeth with Betsy as the nn

ladygindiva · 12/01/2023 22:05

Cassia Clementine for me, but I love a bit of alliteration ( is that the right word?)

Twoinapod · 12/01/2023 22:08

@PinkSyCo might wanna re read my comment babe as I clearly wrote “I have only ever known it”. That means my personal experience, not sure how I can be proved wrong on my own personal experience 😂

You also said that if OP wanted it pronounced lay-la she would need to spell it Layla. For that you are wrong babe.

Twoinapod · 12/01/2023 22:23

@PinkSyCo yes otherwise the child would have a lifetime of correcting people on the pronunciation. Even Laila would be clearer. If you look at other people’s comments they have made the same point, I’m not sure why it’s only mine you have made a point to troll me, you must think I’m special 😘 enjoy your evening sweet cheeks and remember, reading comprehension is an important life skill

If you regard pointing out something to someone as trolling you must be an extremely sensitive soul. You poor baby. 🤗 I am so sorry I hurt your feelings. Now wipe your tears and run along to your safe space and we will say no more about it honeybun. 😘

Cassia is GORGEOUS and strong and beautiful. It has to be Cassia. Leila is ‘meh’. Weak and nothing-y. Neither go with the middle names though. Cassia Clementine would be my choice from the options provided

ShesThunderstorms · 12/01/2023 23:48

My favourite pairing of all of them is Betsy Clementine.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/01/2023 23:50

Like Leila very much

Hobbesmanc · 13/01/2023 08:45

Clemence is a pretty variation. Clementine is a little clunky. Betsy I don't think works as a stand alone name. Leila and Leo are very cute.

ChaToilLeam · 13/01/2023 09:11

Leila and Cassia are lovely names. Clementine is awful and Betsy sounds childish - fine as a nickname but don’t saddle your child with it for adult life.

SmileWithADimple · 13/01/2023 09:12

Leila Clementine

lulalulalula · 13/01/2023 11:17

The middle names are ok but not my favourites. However I think they're a bit of a distraction as in day to day life there will be very little reference to middle names.

I think Leila is nice but Leo & Leila is a bit of an L overload (they will naturally be said a lot together). However I think Cassia is a wonderful name and it has good connotations for me.

Nowthatlovehasperished · 13/01/2023 11:31

Cassia Elizabeth is lovely.

Betsy is great as a shortened version, but is rather trendy at the moment and more likely to "date".

backonbabynames · 13/01/2023 16:11

Thank you. You really didn't hold back Grin which is what I wanted so thank you. Honestly naming this baby is too much hard work. It was so much easier with our first, one name, both loved it, job done!
