Leila Clementine or Cassia Betsy?

We've narrowed down our name choices to the following. Would really appreciate if you could say which you like best? Or point out any howlers about either I've not noticed Blush

Leila Clementine
Cassia Betsy

Baby is due very shortly and is a girl. DH and I are agreed on each of the name's spelling (Layla v Leila took about 2 months!) and the order of first and middle names is because he doesn't care what she has for a middle name but doesn't like either Betsy or Clementine for a first name.

Brother is Leo.

Thanks!

I think Leila is a bit to similar sounding to Leo personally.

Cassia is my preferred option but I don’t think Betsy really goes with it, they have different vibes.

SunshineAndFizz · 12/01/2023 16:48

You'll get loads of people pronouncing it Lee-la (that's what I assumed).

Don't like Betsy. Too cutesy.

Cassia Clementine is the best of a bad bunch.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 12/01/2023 18:58

Cassia Clementine. Betsy is too cutesy for me.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 12/01/2023 18:58

And you can call her Cece for short

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 12/01/2023 19:28

Cassia Clementine.

I'm really not fond of Betsy; It's a nickname.

octoberfarm · 12/01/2023 19:29

Leila Clementine!

RambamThankyouMam · 12/01/2023 19:30

Leila and Cassia are beautiful.

Betsy is a silly nickname that doesn't work as a middle name.

The "clem" sound is like the slang word for a Victorian sexually transmitted disease.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 12/01/2023 19:30

Cassia is fabulous. Not keen on your middle names. I'd go for Tamsin or Faith.

PinkSyCo · 12/01/2023 19:33

Clementine is awful. Not keen on Cassia either-too harsh. Betsy is a bit twee. I do like Leila though.

ThingsChristmasJumper · 12/01/2023 19:34

Cassia as ca see uh or cash uh? Agree you can’t have Leo and Leila however you pronounce Leila. Cassandra n Cassie is nicer than cassia.

LetsDoThis2023 · 12/01/2023 19:38

Leila Clementine!!!
The other one is horrendous 🙈

LetsDoThis2023 · 12/01/2023 19:40

Although Leila and Leo???
What about Clementine Leila instead?

Or

Ophelia Clementine
Eloise Clementine
Beatrix Clementine
Camille Clementine

JulesJules · 12/01/2023 19:40

Cassia Clementine

Ontopofthesunset · 12/01/2023 19:44

I don't understand why people pair different middle names with different first names. If you want a name as a middle name, why don't you want it with a different first name? It's not going to be used most of the time. And if you are giving a middle name so your child has a choice later in life, isn't there one you'd prefer them to use? What's wrong with Leila Betsy or Cassia Clementine?

Personally I prefer Clementine or Betsy as first names, and think Leila is a bit close to Leo for everyday use. I don't like Cassia much as it just reminds me of the cheap cinnamon sticks which are huge.

SunsetOverEasterIsland · 12/01/2023 19:47

Definitely Cassia and I'd go for Cassia Clementine.

Cassia, to my mind, goes nicer with Leo than Leila.

Congratulations on your new arrival.

KylieCharlene · 12/01/2023 19:50

Leila will regularly be pronounced the way you don't intend it to be.
Layla would be so much kinder.

JamMakingWannaBe · 12/01/2023 19:51

I know a Laila if you'd like a definite "lay" sound, and it differentiates it more from Leo.

Laila Clementine

ThePoshUns · 12/01/2023 19:54

I'm not sure how you say Leila? But too similar to Leo I would say.
Not keen on Cassia. Sounds like cassis.

Jelly4444 · 12/01/2023 20:00

Cassia is beautiful but I don't like Betsy. Is Betsy named after a parent or grandparent? I think it has to be Cassia Elizabeth?

fastandthecurious1 · 12/01/2023 20:01

It would be Betsy clementine for me I think that beautiful traditional works well from young to old

Moomoomeemee · 12/01/2023 20:03

Cassia Elizabeth?

Or Cassia Betsy if you really want Betsy.

I've had enough of the Leila, Lily, Lola, Elara, Lyra, Lilah names. Too many for me

Twoinapod · 12/01/2023 20:18

Leila I have only ever known to be pronounced Lee-la, if you want it pronounced lay-la you would need to spell it Layla. Agree with other people that it really doesn’t work well with Leo though.

Cassia is fine, there’s a lot of Cassius/caspian/Caspar names for boys at the moment so it’s not overly out there, just blends into those.

as long as you don’t mind the cassie/cass shortening

I read Leila to be pronounced as Layla.

knitfastdieyoung · 12/01/2023 20:46

Leila Clementine

Don't like Cassia at all and Betsy is infantile

Twoinapod · 12/01/2023 20:48

@PinkSyCo hang fast while I alert the townsfolk to make ready the parade 🙄
