I'm after some thoughts on Seth, I'm really drawn to it. Simple, handsome sounding, adapatable, carries well. Would be grateful for general thoughts of others? Thanks

I really like it! I’ve met one or two boys called Seth and they are very sweet natured.

Thisbastardcomputer · 11/01/2023 08:36

It reminds me of the old ugly man on emmerdale.

knitfastdieyoung · 11/01/2023 08:38

I had it on my shortlist for DS but hubby vetoed.

Personally, I love it for all the reasons you mention. It just seems a solid, straightforward name to me. In the same vein as Tom, Sam, Kit etc. However, from my own experience of floating it to friends and family, it is a bit of a 'marmite' name. Got strong reactions in favour and against....

Twoinapod · 11/01/2023 09:23

I love it, was a solid contender for #2 but I asked my older daughter to say it and it was coming out as seff which put us off it. Definitely go for it

fairycupcakes · 11/01/2023 10:05

I really like it!!
It’s been on my list for years. I have no DC yet but I love discussing names ❤️

DramaAlpaca · 11/01/2023 10:57

I hate it. It's lispy, slithery and reminds me of snakes for some reason. A very big no.

ThewaytoAmarula · 11/01/2023 11:01

It reminds me of snakes too, I wonder why?! I also have difficulty pronouncing it, but then I probably have a very slight lisp!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 11/01/2023 11:03

I love it. DD probably would have been called it had she been a boy. I think of Seth from the OC

WhatWouldHopperDo · 11/01/2023 11:07

I love it. Nice and simple.

By the by, I know of a girl Seth - she is 5/6.

cucumberegg · 11/01/2023 11:08

It's a noise not a name to me. Just sounds like a loud whispy breath out.

emmathedilemma · 11/01/2023 12:33

I'm not a fan I'm afraid, even though i know one and he's lovely! It strikes me as very biblical.

greenkitten2 · 11/01/2023 12:39

I like it!

TrashyPanda · 11/01/2023 12:40

Not a fan.

makes me think of someone who is sly and untrustworthy.

i have no idea why!

QuertyGirl · 11/01/2023 12:44

Seth was the Egyptian God of violence and treachery, funnily enough.

Reminds me of snakes too!
That or Seth Armstrong from Emmerdale Farm back in the day.

Gh12345 · 11/01/2023 12:46

I like it

Ilovewillow · 11/01/2023 12:59

I have a Seth, we love it. My son is gentle, kind and somehow suits the name. It can be pronounced as Seff often but doesn't bother us. We liked it as it somehow fitted with his sisters name and it was simple and not hugely popular.

DuchessOfSausage · 11/01/2023 13:18

Not keen. Don't like the Se bit or the th. The length is good.

stickybear · 11/01/2023 13:56

I like it a lot but reading Cold Comfort Farm ruined it for me Grin

SalviaOfficinalis · 11/01/2023 13:57

I really like it but somehow wouldn’t use it.

It’s a bit kind of nothingy, you can’t get a firm grasp on it somehow. I’m aware that doesn’t really make sense!

loz12345 · 11/01/2023 14:00

My ds is a Seth - people do pronounce it as Seff but it was easy for him and his to learn to spell and write and he won’t be asked constantly how do you spell it - which we did think about as we always have to spell ds1 name for people which gets annoying 😂

IVFbeenverylucky · 11/01/2023 14:17

I quite like it, but wouldn't pick it.
I thought the snakes comments from various pp was funny - Seth was the third son Adam and Eve had after one of their first two met an, ahem, bloody end. Maybe that explains the snake connection, although the serpent was a bit earlier on in the Garden of Eden.....

LightHousePanda · 11/01/2023 14:32

I dislike the name but if you like it go for it. There's nothing bad about it. Personally, I don't like "th" sounds in names. It's not pleasant to me.

SingingSands · 11/01/2023 14:41

It's not uncommon where I am (Yorkshire). I like it - solid, no frills, good name to grow into.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 11/01/2023 14:44

I like it
I know one who's 3 and has a brother called Saul
