What do you think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ofwarren · 07/12/2022 13:52

I like it

urbanbuddha · 07/12/2022 13:52

Don’t like it. It sounds depressed and grumpy.

FearofQueefing · 07/12/2022 13:55

I really don't like it. But I'm at a loss to explain why. Agree with previous poster - it conjures up negative images in my mind...

startfresh · 07/12/2022 13:56

Love this name

Kanaloa · 07/12/2022 13:58

It’s ok. This is so stupid and nothing to do with the name but it reminds me of a murderer called Silas on Hollyoaks when I was a teen. Obviously absolutely no reflection on the name and every name will have a negative association somewhere in fiction or real life, but I think because it was the first time I’d ever heard the name it just stuck with me.

I don’t hate the sound of it though, but then I like Simon and Cyrus so I obviously like that sound!

Sprouttreesareamazing · 07/12/2022 13:59

My ds has a similar name. He is well known as the only one around! Go for it op.

SusanPerbCallMeSue · 07/12/2022 14:00

I love it!

ReadtheReviews · 07/12/2022 14:02

It's very country and farmery.Silas has a stalk of grass hanging from the corner of his mouth while he leans on a stile.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 07/12/2022 14:05

I should like it as it’s the kind of name I usually go for but it makes me think of silage.

Such a shame as it is an interesting name.

bettybyebye · 07/12/2022 14:06

I really hate it. Makes me think of the creepy character Silas in the da Vinci code

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/12/2022 14:07

Good! I know a Silas who's 20ish. He's lovely so good associations.

toastofthetown · 07/12/2022 15:04

I should like it, as I love softer sounding, uncommon boys names, but Silas just doesn’t appeal to me. That’s just taste though and there’s nothing objectively wrong with it though. It definitely ticks a lot of boxes, unusual while stil familiar, easy to pronounce and spell.

Paul Bettany who played Silas is a handsome guy!

Purplemagnolias · 07/12/2022 15:13

I never know whether to pronounce it Seelas ou Syelas..?

milkandchocolat · 07/12/2022 15:13

Love. I love a boys Old Testament name.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 07/12/2022 15:13

It reminds me of a Silo. Sorry OP.

Purplemagnolias · 07/12/2022 15:14

Silas like Silver or Silvia

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 07/12/2022 15:14

I also feel I should like it but don't.

I remember watching Silas Marner as a child and feeling a bit melancholic.

Berlinlover · 07/12/2022 15:19

Awful, the name reminds me of silage.

defi · 07/12/2022 15:20

I love it

Love it!

Pieceofpurplesky · 07/12/2022 15:27

I like it. Justin Timberlake clearly did too as it's his son's name.

averylongtimeago · 07/12/2022 15:29

St Silas was an early Christian teacher and prophet who traveled with St Paul.
I think it's a good name - but then, I got married in a St Silas church😁

maddy68 · 07/12/2022 15:33

It was the name of a baddy in something I used to watch so it's a no from me
