Help!

We are expecting our second child, Irish living in London. Our daughter has an Irish name and we are keen to give DS one too. But we can't find a single one we like or haven't had to rule out. I've googled and googled, need some serious inspiration!

Can't use the below for various reasons:
Sean
Oisin
Niall
Seamus
Conor
Liam
Ruairi
Fionn

Considering but not loving:
Tadhg
Conan

Didn’t expect so many responses!! Thanks all so much.

there’s a few names I had previously discounted but might add back to the list. Rian (don’t love Cian… makes me think of Kian from Westlife!), Cormac (don’t know why it doesn’t feel massively modern though), Oran is nice, Ruan/Ruadhan possibly

had thought Luan was a girls name @GrazingSheep (not sure why), but quite like it

@RoyKeaneisRight Uinseann - how do you say it?

I have a Cormac and he loves his name. It's also nicely Irish without being difficult to pronounce or spell. Plus, with certain surnames it's a really cool name iykwim?

Torin
Ruan
Ruadhán
Cónall

Colm or Ronan?

Colm makes me think of Derry Girls 😂

Dacadactyl · 27/11/2022 08:36

I've never watched it so don't get the reference.

Also not an Irish name. A town, yes.

@RoyKeaneisRight Uinseann - how do you say it?

Uinseann would be pronounced In-shin (with more emphasis on In). Irish for Vincent.
Lots of great Irish names in this thread, but I agree with @EarringsandLipstick that lots of them aren't actually people names, but are place names - just like Brooklyn Beckham.

Bumpsadaisie · 27/11/2022 10:29

Malachi?
Ciaran?

Bumpsadaisie · 27/11/2022 10:29

Fintan?

ProperVexed · 27/11/2022 10:37

I met a young Irish man called Finnigus ( or Finnigas) last week.
Cracker of a name!

LadyEloise1 · 27/11/2022 10:54

Breifne. (Brefknee)
Tarlach
Mel ( St. Mel )

mikado1 · 27/11/2022 11:10

Luke is not Irish! What about Fionntán instead of Fintan? Cathal? There really are loads here.
For safety, if I bad to pick one that is lovely and also sensible, Darragh ticks all the boxes. I would like to have used it.
