Most common names in your DCs school

My daughter has 4 Sophia’s in her class alone.

Also Rueben seems to be the most common boys name.

DS name hasn't come up yet, but he's in nursery still (so theres time for when he starts next year as it was a pretty popular name in 2019 according to dns). There is a baby there who has the same name however, but a different spelling. Otherwise I've never met a child with the same name as ds and I've worked in 3 different schools over the past 10 years.

My son's hasn't appeared either. It's recognizable enough that every now and again you meet one or two, not one of those names no one's ever heard of, or that sounds as though it's been made up.

My brother's, on the other hand, is all over this thread!

There were a lot of Daniels when I was at school, that's another one I haven't seen mentioned. Names like Thomas and James are timeless and never seem to date.

I have no idea what I'd have named a daughter. I find girls' names much more difficult; not at all keen on diminutives, which doesn't help!

Martha has been popular for years. I worked in a nursery from 2003 to 2005 and we had three there at that time. I still see it regularly in schools now.

I know of a school that has an Andrew, Michael and a Shaun in one class. Another class had a Robert and a Daniel. And there's a Kevin in another one (though that's not ond your hear often admittedly). My friends nephew is 2 and is called Nigel. I thought he was taking the piss when he told me.

Year 7: Lots of Mia / Meahs this year and Evans and Henrys. Couple of years ago it was lots of Amelia / Millies and Olivers.

My mother thought she'd picked a classic, timeless name for me, one that wouldn't date. Unfortunately she was wrong: my name is so much of its era that you could probably age most of the people called by it to within about two decades of our birth.

My middle name hits more of the note she was aiming for: I think it's a timeless, classic, beautiful name. I much prefer it to my first name and don't know why on earth I didn't opt to use it in my adult life! Bit late now though.

Lots of variation on Ally/Ellie/Elena/Ella although all with different spellings.

I had always wanted an Oscar but when DS was born the name had become very popular and I didn't want it to become dated/him to be one of 4 in a class. Needless to say we have met not a single Oscar in any school or activity, but there is another child with his name in the year above at school with whom he constantly gets mixed up 🤷‍♀️

Plenty David's in the primary school I work in.

8 classes of 24, Yorkshire for context.

I'd say majority white but not overwhelmingly so. Most classes have 3-5 Asian (by this I mean Pakistani/Indian, I don't think we have any East Asian kids at the moment) children but the current Reception is pretty much 50-50.

I am a primary school teacher. We have very few doubles of names these days. The only ones we have are George and Logan.

My DD has one of the most often-mentioned popular names. There are only two in the school. There are more children in the school named Luna (3). There are even two Enzos!

I don't know any Ruebens, however I know two Reubens.

I find it so fascinating how this happens. For instance my DD is on some of these lists but yet when we picked it we did partially as it wasn’t common, and now we know of a few others.

In my experience I hear a lot of Logan, Theo, Emilia/Millie, Emily and Zara.

I’m absolutely gutted one of my DCs names has appeared, I honesty never expected it especially as it’s so hated on MN. I suppose as Meatloaf said, two out of three ain’t bad though 😂

It's quite easy to avoid these fashionable names by choosing names outside the top 500.

We’re in Ireland so it may be different
but Lily is probably the most popular girls name. Conor or jack for the boys.

Harry
Harley
Jack
Amelia
Olivia

Every variation of Eve/Evie/Eva/Ava/Aoife, plus Sophie, Sophia and Olivia. Might as well have given their kids a serial number as their names do nothing to identify them.

Although my own ds is called William, so I obviously learnt nothing 😂

Dominic and Arthur for boys I think, so many Dominic's.

Emily, Emilia, Julia and Natalia for girls
