Boy's name Axl, thoughts?

So we found out we gonna have a boy and my husband really likes the name Axl, as its unusual and not common. I'm trying to warm up to it though :)
Obviously there are associations with GnR, but that's irrelevant. What are your thoughts?

I’m not keen on it at all but if it was going to be used I would add a letter E in!

Enjoysomerum · 02/10/2022 08:13

I think Axel is nicer, Axl to me looks like it's missing an e.

Beginningless · 02/10/2022 08:14

I’d do Axel too. I met a baby Axel tho, it was cuter than I’d have first thought.

DannyNedelko · 02/10/2022 08:16

I would put the E in too. Otherwise it brings oral sex connotations to my mind.

Enko · 02/10/2022 08:17

Agree. Axel. Not Axl. Its a good name.

UnagiForLife · 02/10/2022 08:17

Not keen on the spelling, would spell Axel but much prefer Alex(ander)

Whycantibetangy · 02/10/2022 08:18

Middle name Rose? 😉

lets get it out there as you will be asked ALL the time

Charleymouse · 02/10/2022 08:22

That's my boy chihuahua name.

He's named after Axl Heck from the middle. Which is what springs to mind with the name. More so now than Axl Rose or Axel F.

inappropriateraspberry · 02/10/2022 08:30

It looks like Axl is short for an axolotl. Not keen on the name, but if you do use it, put an E in it.

AsAnyFuleKno · 02/10/2022 08:38

Axl Rose spelt it like that, apparently so his whole name would be an anagram of 'oral sex'. I would add an E - Axel is a lovely name.

Do you live in the paradise city?

I love Axolotls ! (Helpful)
I know of a Norwegian Axel. Better than Axl imo.

GardenShack · 02/10/2022 08:41

You say the guns and roses thing is irrelevant, but I bet you'd soon be sick of it!

MrJi · 02/10/2022 08:41

Actually have remembered he is Aksel. I am half asleep, sorry.
Aksel is the nicest spelling .

Wherever it is, I heard the girls sure are pretty

SirChenjins · 02/10/2022 08:44

Do you live somewhere where the grass green and the girls are pretty?

There’s a very good reason for the name being unusual OP. Tell your DH to change his name if he wants to indulge his inner rock god.

Lcb123 · 02/10/2022 08:54

nice name but for his sake spell it the most intuitive way, Axel

I miss the Heck's!

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 02/10/2022 09:00

I don't associate it with Guns'n'Roses OP. I associate it with Beverly Hills Cop.

TroublesComing32 · 02/10/2022 09:03

Love it x

ReeseWitherfork · 02/10/2022 09:06

Big fan of The Middle so I’m pro Axel. But definitely with an ‘E’. Axl Rose only spelt his stage name like that because of the oral sex thing I believe.

BreatheAndFocus · 02/10/2022 09:15

I just think of an axle, like on a car. Sorry. Apart from that, I personally think it’s a rather ugly harsh sounding name.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 02/10/2022 09:17

I love it, I used to know a female Axel too, great name

Agreed.

Brother Xhaust and sister Braix, presumably.

Pinkywoo · 02/10/2022 09:21

One of Little Mix named her baby Axel so probably not that unusual anymore.
