Lumi vs Winter for our December baby girl??

Lumi is Finnish for Snow and is pronounced Loo-mee. Have always had a soft spot for Winter but I know it's not everyone's taste.

What would you choose out of the two?

I have a Lumi-Bowl in my toilet.....

I'd go for Winter. To me Lumi sounds like some kind of tech app.

Lumi sounds like a brand name

Winter is awful. Who would want a name which evokes cold, dark, wet greyness and misery?

Lumi sounds a bit like a model of mobile phone, but it’s a lot better than Winter.

I suspect that we have very similar taste in names. I really like them both.

I know I’ll be in the minority but I LOVE the name Lumi. I am due in January and have seriously considered it but can’t use it due to it rhyming with my surname. I’m also a bit concerned about Lumi sounding a bit like loony. Then again, there are other names that sound like not-very-nice words and people use those.

I also really like Winter but it’s been vetoed by DH.

Lumi brought to mind some sort of technology or app. A light even?
winter is a beautiful season so of those two, I’d go for that.

Neither are my taste but I don't think they're awful...I think I prefer winter.

I think Lumi is too close to various brand names. Sorry. (I have a huge soft spot for Luminita as a name, and I suppose it could be short for that, but it has nothing to do with winter).

And not Winter either, sorry. It's a word, or a surname at a push.

How about Eira (Welsh for snow, I believe), or something else seasonal, like Holly, Robyn or Natalia?

Lumi is pretty but makes me think of IPL products. Winter is OK but depends on your surname?

You're not far off 😁 Lumi-bowl is a motion sensor light that goes inside your toilet. Helpful when you have children or a DH whose aim is not good in the dark.

Lumi, I couldn't...it's what we call Blackpool illumination (going to see the lumies!!)

Winter only landed when it was rare. Like Summer you now here it being shrieked across playground a lot.

There are lots of nice girls names meaning stuff like star, Christmas and snow though.
