What does people think of the name Octavia.
I love the name I saw it on a to show the 100 a few years ago, so maybe more common in America. Everyone I have told does not like the name. Is it really a weird name I don’t want her to grow up hating her name? Or is it one of the names she will grow in to and people will just get used to it

It is a famous model of a Skoda, so I would always think of that.

All I can see is Octavia from Sesame Street ,a big yellow bird ,but I am 55 so maybe younger people haven't seen it

It’s lovely, and it sounds similar to names that are popular right now, like Cecilia and Aurelia and Olivia - so I am sure it will pick up speed soon. You can be in the vanguard.

I taught an Octavia years ago. I love it, but I'm not quite brave enough to use it!

My first thought is car which is what your friends may have reacted to.

Personally that wouldn't put me off at all and think that there's plenty of good car names out there- Octavia, Elise, Kia, Cleo (I know the car is Clio) etc

I really like it but there are no real obvious contenders for nicknames so I would use it as a middle name.

Yeah nice name. Makes me think of Octavia Hill, the social reformer. It should really be used for your eighth child though, which I assume she isn't.

Octavias Butler and Spencer are good namesakes. It's a bit 'extra' for me but there's nothing wrong with it.

I love the name Octavia, the Skoda association is unfortunate because it’s such a beautiful name. But, as she grows up, there will be less and less of those about, isn’t it quite an old model already? So if you love it I think use it.
