What do you think of this name for a baby girl?
Names also on my list are Milencia and Astoria.

They're all quite unique names and all end in an "ia" sound which I love. If anyone has any similar suggestions please let me know.

To me, not having heard it before, it sounds somewhere between Terrence and Tarantula. So it doesn’t have an appealing first impression, but I’m sure I’d get used to it.

Valencia, Sophia, Victoria, Lucia. I quite like Valencia.

butterflied · 07/08/2022 10:33

The first thing I think of is Tarantula. Not a good start.

Evasmissingletter · 07/08/2022 10:34

Sounds like a cream for thrush.

ChagSameachDoreen · 07/08/2022 10:34

Frightful.

GrandSlamFinalee · 07/08/2022 10:35

Sounds like Valencia or Palencia to me - one of these is my home city. They’re becoming very well known internationally due to tourism, so I wouldn't recommend. To the PP - please don’t name your child Valencia. It’s like someone calling their kid Birmingham or Sheffield. Might be a nice sound but it’s not a name.

OP - how about Victoria? I do quite like Astoria but it does remind me of the hotels.

Other suggestions - Aria, Maia, Claudia?

Soproudoflionesses · 07/08/2022 10:35

Not a fan.

Sorry.

Echobelly · 07/08/2022 10:36

No, doesn't sound nice. Astoria is quite nice, but sounds like a hotel.

Lurkerlot · 07/08/2022 10:37

Nah, doesn’t sound good. Ans Astoria reminds me of gritty music venues / nightclubs.

ladydimitrescu · 07/08/2022 10:40

Terancia sounds like a monster from stranger things.
Astoria sounds like a hotel.
Milencia sounds like an ancient insect that will be in the next Jurassic park.

Please, please don't

pimlicoanna · 07/08/2022 10:41

It's pretty much tarantula

itssquidstella · 07/08/2022 10:42

Terentia is a Latin name. Would probably be Terenzia in Italian if it exists.

Much prefer Valencia, though.

ChessieFL · 07/08/2022 10:42

It sounds like a man called Terrence wanting to name his daughter after himself so ‘feminising’ the name. Like Nigel Lawson did with daughter Nigella.

quietnightmare · 07/08/2022 10:43

🤦🏾‍♀️
Toria
Ria
Ellia
Lia
Melia

Hoppinggreen · 07/08/2022 10:43

Sounds like you want to name her after a male relative called Terrance.
How about Colincia instead?

SpringAspen · 07/08/2022 10:43

@GrandSlamFinalee Have always loved the name Victoria but it just doesn't have the unique aspect I'm looking for sadly.
Aria is beautiful though, will definitely add that to my list.

If you like "ia" -
Ophelia
Amelia
Mia
Sophia
Olivia
Anastasia
Lydia
Octavia
Talia
Alexandria
Alicia
Aurelia
India
Claudia
Cynthia

2orangey · 07/08/2022 10:44

If you like names ending in -ia how about something more conventional? Julia, Amelia/Emilia, Olivia, Natalia, Maria, Lydia, Anastasia, Valeria, Nadia, Aurelia, Silvia, Daria...

Overthebow · 07/08/2022 10:45

Sounds way too much like tarantula. If I had to pick out of those then Astoria.

SpringAspen · 07/08/2022 10:45

Love the suggestion of Colincia!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/08/2022 10:47

Sounds like a video game

Aria
Thalia
Maria
Ariella
Victoria

Lydia
Julia
Ophelia
Octavia
Nia
Mia
Leah (pronounced Lia)
Georgia
Aurelia
Sophia
Anastasia
Natalia
Alicia

All established names ending in "ia".

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 07/08/2022 10:48

Not ending in -ia but I think it gives you the vibe/rarity that you're looking for (I won't say uniqueness, as it's an actual name).....
What about Terezita? Shortened to Zita, I think it sounds great.

DrDetriment · 07/08/2022 10:48

It's awful. As is Colincia, sounds like a procedure. Just relax and we will start the colincia now, your bowel issues will soon be sorted.

As a pp said, why not Arla. Victoria is lovely and classic but I appreciate you're looking for something 'yoonique'.

knittingaddict · 07/08/2022 10:49

Family history is my hobby. In the 1800's you seem to have about 4 choices for girls names and about the same for boys. The choices these days are almost limitless, yet people still want "unique". The more you aim for unique the more ridiculous they become.

Mary, Jane and Elizabeth are sounding good right now.

Love the suggestion of Colincia!

Are you trolling, op?
