Yes, love it. Same category as Astrid for me.

I like it, like Este (pronounced Estie) as a NN but I love the band Haim, what a band of kick ass Jewish babes!!

DangerouslyBored · 30/07/2022 22:26

Awful. Granny name, not remotely cool!

Biscuitsneeded · 30/07/2022 22:29

I like it. Timeless, classic, not too twee. I know a couple and they have been Essie or Ezzie as smaller children and have grown into the full Esther.

Runningupthathill78 · 30/07/2022 22:33

I like it. It's unusual, not 'out there'. Wasn't someone from a girl band called Esther (thinking 90's) and I remember thinking it was unusual then and I liked it!

WinniePig · 30/07/2022 22:34

I don’t like it. Not a pretty name. But…. absolutely go for it if you like it! Who cares what other people think!!

Awful. Granny name, not remotely cool!

It was my Granny’s name.

She was born 113 years ago. So I think Esther is long past being a Granny’s name.

In 2022, Granny names of babies and children are more likely to be Kate, Diane, Jane, Debbie, Liz, Joanne, Sue, and Caroline. I can’t imagine a newborn being given any of those names.

RoseMartha · 30/07/2022 22:42

I know a little Esther. Cute name.

UsernameIsHarderThanBabyName · 30/07/2022 22:43

Love it

MissDollyMix · 30/07/2022 22:44

Awful name. Can’t stand it. I know a few Esthers and it just doesn’t seem to suit any of them.

PancakesWithCheese · 30/07/2022 22:50

Drab.

justanothermummma · 30/07/2022 23:00

I'm biased.. I love it as my 1yo is called Esther.

I went to school with an Esther and always loved the name.

I was after an 'older' name - it suits her.

She is wild, fun and independent not drab (but she might be when she's 90?!).

Not everyone will like what you choose. So choose what you like and do so with confidence.

DieDeutschLehrerin · 30/07/2022 23:03

It's our daughter's name, so clearly it's a winner for us. She is seven and an absolute bright spark. She is strong and confident and we think the name suits her immensely. At the end of the day it's personal choice. No one has been ever been anything but complimentary to us about it, which is as it should be - if you can't say anything nice etc. If they don't like it, well there we are - it doesn't really change anything. Esther likes it and so do we. I have a very common 1980s name - usually at least 4 in every class but I still like it, even though it would be dull to most. If you like it, go for it.

Meem321 · 30/07/2022 23:03

It's very biblical.

That may be the vibe you like.

JaninaDuszejko · 30/07/2022 23:05

Really good strong name, not common but well known. I like it.

Antigonesaunt · 30/07/2022 23:12

I love it

RosieRainbow1986 · 30/07/2022 23:24

I know an Esther (in her late 40s) and she's fab!!! A kind and caring person who is always there to help - so associate these qualities with the name! She's also cool and chic! I really like the name!!

stitchinguru · 30/07/2022 23:28

It’s my Mum’s name, and therefore my daughters middle name (Rosa Esther).
I like it.

SirenSays · 30/07/2022 23:31

Hate it. Makes me think of mothballs

ReadtheReviews · 31/07/2022 02:12

I always think of names as colours and Esther is a grayish mauve. That said, it isn't a mean girl name, it does have a sweetness about it, albeit a sort of cardigan-y sweetness.

RockinHorseShit · 31/07/2022 02:27

Yes.

I've known 2 & both were very intelligent, strong & beautiful women who we're very successful in their male dominated fields

StClare101 · 31/07/2022 02:47

I like it! I’ve always liked it.

andpeggy1 · 31/07/2022 04:53

I've always loved Estelle as a cooler alternative

StartupRepair · 31/07/2022 04:55

Love it. Cool and strong. Considered it for DD.

Snog · 31/07/2022 10:35
