What name 'goes' best with Tabitha? (As well as being the nicest name in it's own right?)

Rosa
Beatrix
Genevieve
Annalise
Dorothy
Theodora
Joy
Martha
Harriet
Hermione
Eliza
Phoebe

(These are all namea we considered for Tabitha before settling on Tabitha, hence why maybe some don't 'go' so well alongside it, hence my question!)

And, any other suggestions?

(Tabitha's favourite names are Skye, after the dog from Paw Patrol, and Dolly, after her doll, who is imaginatively named Dolly. I don't think I can make Skye work but did think if we went with Dorothy, at least she can call her Dolly! 😂)

I think they all "go" except Martha and Theodora which have too many similar sounds for me. Maybe not Harriet either but I don't really like that name...

Rosa, Beatrix, Annalise and Joy are my favourites. I also like Marnie but I probably suggest that for lots of people :)

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 24/07/2022 18:25

I really like the name Tabitha. To me it has a glamorous, vintage feel. I think Dorothy, Rosa and Beatrix match that quite well. I also think Clara and Lydia have a similar vibe. I love Phoebe and Hermione from your list too. Although Martha is an old-fashioned name I personally don't really like it and would discount it from your list. I also don't like Harriet.

Wow! That's actually weird that you said Marnie, because that was on the list too for Tabitha (after DH's granny) but we dismissed it this time as I thought it might seem to nickname-y next to Tabitha? But I do love it! Do you think they sound okay together?

Marnie could potentially be a nn for Hermione? (Slightly tenuous, but I love it)

Thank you for your comment! I love Dorothy, but I'm not sure if I'm quite brave enough for it - is it a bit 'much'? Or do you thimk it's usable?

Ooh i love this, and also overcomes my problem with Hermione that I LOVE it as a full name but couldn't think of a nickname I liked! I think this is great, definitely keeping this on the list then!

RainLover · 24/07/2022 18:31

I think Theodora (love) and Martha have too many similar sounds to Tabitha. Phoebe also jars for me as it’s so popular currently, whereas Tabitha is more unusual (love that name too).
Rosa, Eliza, Harriet and Hermione are my favourites from your list.

Cognacsoft · 24/07/2022 18:35

The name doesn’t have to go with Tabitha though, your dc will be separate adults a lot longer than young sisters.
I like Eliza and Dorothy. Dorothy could be shortened to Dolly as you say.

EternalPoinsettia · 24/07/2022 18:36

Rosa, Beatrix or Phoebe

ANUsernam · 24/07/2022 18:37

I personally would not use Beatrix, Hermione, Theodora or Genevieve with Tabitha.

To me Tabitha has associations of witches/cats and these names double down on these associations for me.

I like Annalise, Harriet and Eliza (with sister Tabitha)

Cyberworrier · 24/07/2022 18:40

Tabatha and Genevieve!

Some of the other names sound a bit small or ordinary in comparison to Tabatha, I think as a pair those would be lovely.

Or Beatrix! (Although I maybe would go for Beatrice?)

I think Marnie and Hermione will sort of date the baby, Marnie seems very popular and Hermione is a bit meh.

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 24/07/2022 18:42

I definitely think Dorothy is usable! I do love a more unusual name though.

merryhouse · 24/07/2022 18:50

Dorothy
Harriet
Joy
Martha

pimlicoanna · 24/07/2022 19:28

The only one I like on your list is Theodora

TheVanguardSix · 24/07/2022 19:36

Oh I love the name Tabitha!
I always put it on my MN baby name lists.
I may be 50, but you never stop loving naming a baby! 😆
I rate all of your beautiful choices, OP. It’s hard to say which ones work best. You’ve chosen great names. I do love Phoebe.

But I see that you love Hermione.
My great aunt Hermione was known as Mimi, if that helps. Tante Mimi!

shedwithivy · 24/07/2022 19:49

Other Beatrix potter ish names? Josephine, Lucie, Sally, Anna-Maria (maybe not Hunca Munca)

shedwithivy · 24/07/2022 19:50

Or other New Testament biblical names (Lydia, Lois, Mary...)

PraiseBee · 24/07/2022 19:59

Dorothy all the way with cute nickname Dotty

Titsflyingsouth · 24/07/2022 21:48

I don't think they need to 'go'. You will have two children who are people in their own right and don't have to complement each other.

For the record, Rosa and Annelise are my favourites. (And I dislike Dorothy, Theodora and Harriet.)

Rosa
Beatrix
Genevieve
Annalise
Dorothy
Theodora
Joy
Martha
Harriet
Hermione
Eliza
Phoebe

Mumofgirls2017 · 24/07/2022 22:01

They all go well apart from Joy and possibly Rosa but it’s not a big deal. My favourites are Eliza, Theodora, Dorothy and Martha. Other suggestions Tabitha and

Edith
esther
lydia
jemima
matilda
margot
violet
aurelia
annabelle
winifred
dorothea
evelyn
ottilie
penelope
heidi

ElizaSkye · 24/07/2022 22:04

Lots of these have been on my list and I also love Tabitha.

Ottilie
Margot
Iris
Josefina (Effie)
Elphie
Celeste

of your list I like lots, but Beatrix stands out as a lovely match. Tabitha & Bea

SleepingStandingUp · 25/07/2022 02:14

Beatrix
Genevieve
Harriet

Those are the three I'd pick.

How about Dolores nn Dolly? Altho I do have a friend with a Dolly, full name.

sashh · 25/07/2022 02:52

I know a Tabitha who has a sister called Hermione.

I love Beatrix.

grumpynamechange · 25/07/2022 04:26

Thank you so much for your thoughts, I've literally sat down and counted up the number of positive or negative comments for each name (because I have too much time on my hands) and it seems like the names that go best or are most liked are:

Rosa
Beatrix
Dorothy
Hermione
Eliza

And actually this made me realise that these are also my favourites! So I've scrapped the others from the list and am just keeping these for now.

As for suggested names (again, thank you!) I like loads of your suggestions, but leabing out the ones thay DH vetoed, remaining are:
Dolores (although it means 'sorrow')
Lydia (although can't think of any nickname options)
Winifred (LOVE Winnie!)
Iris (is it very popular now though?)

Any thoughts on these names?
