Identical Twin Girls - Eliza and ???

I’m 19+5 with identical twins girls and we struggling with a name for one twin

We’ve agreed on Eliza for one, but haven’t decided on a middle name yet.

I really like Lexi, but I don’t know if I sounds like a “real” full name or if it sounds like it’s short for something. However I can’t work out what Lexi could be short for, I don’t want Alexa because of the whole Amazon thing!!!! I’m also unsure if Lexi and Eliza sound too harsh

DH has suggested we honour his late mum (who I never met) who’s name was Enid but always called Ellie. But I think having two “E” names is naff, whether it’s Enid and Eliza or Ellie and Eliza. Plus I don’t know anyone under about 70 called Enid.

So any suggestions on what could go with Eliza?!

Elizabeth and Alexandra are both good royal names.

Liza and Lexi would work better than Eliza and Lexi.

If you like Eliza - to me that immediately feels like Elizabeth Bennet and therefore I think of other Austen names.

I love Lydia. Also Marianne, Harriet, Georgiana, Cassandra, Elinor. Though the latter is too similar to Eliza.

Georgie and Eliza are nice together.

Eliza can be called Ellie.
Eliza and Jane
Ellie and Lexi

Eliza Lucy
Eliza Rose

Jane Alexandra
Jane Rebecca
Catherine Jane
Alexandra Jane

I think it's quite nice for the other name to start with the dominating sounds of Eliza (the 'L' and the 'Z')

So
Eliza and Lara
Eliza and Lottie
Eliza and Lily
Eliza and Zara
Eliza and Zelda

I know ID twins called Alec and Alex (they both well known in the music industry!). So, on that note, how about Elisa (it's a Romanian name pronouncd Ell-ee-sa) and Eliza.

I do really like Lexie though and think it's fine as a name, not Alexandra.

daisypond · 21/07/2022 08:24

Lexi is awful. Ellie is bland. Eliza is fine. You could have Alexandra shortened to Lexi if you must. Alix? Alix is an ancient name -one of Queen Victoria’s daughters was Alix, and it has a similar Victorian vibe to Eliza.

Not read the whole thread so apologies if duplicated but my first thought was Kitty. I once met twins Elizabeth and Katherine, nns Betty and Kitty.
I don't like lexi.
I like Enid, but prefer Eden.

KirstenBlest · 21/07/2022 08:31

Give them different names. Eliza and Elisa would be too similar and you might as well call them Betty and Betsy.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/07/2022 08:34

I once met identical twins called Jay-Tia and Tia-Jay. I thought that was a terrible thing to do to them.

I Like the idea of Celia and Alice as twins.

Spaghag · 21/07/2022 20:46

I second Eliza & Louisa. Eliza can be Ellie.

Or even Eliza & Eloise - with Eloise being known as Ellie.
