Identical Twin Girls - Eliza and ???

I’m 19+5 with identical twins girls and we struggling with a name for one twin

We’ve agreed on Eliza for one, but haven’t decided on a middle name yet.

I really like Lexi, but I don’t know if I sounds like a “real” full name or if it sounds like it’s short for something. However I can’t work out what Lexi could be short for, I don’t want Alexa because of the whole Amazon thing!!!! I’m also unsure if Lexi and Eliza sound too harsh

DH has suggested we honour his late mum (who I never met) who’s name was Enid but always called Ellie. But I think having two “E” names is naff, whether it’s Enid and Eliza or Ellie and Eliza. Plus I don’t know anyone under about 70 called Enid.

So any suggestions on what could go with Eliza?!

Eliza and Isabella go well together, also gives a slight nod to MIL.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 16/07/2022 15:54

Eliza and Clara
Eliza and Amy
Eliza and Fiona
Eliza and Isobel( Ellie and Izzy)

PoleFairy · 16/07/2022 15:55

My friend is an Alexia and called Lexi. I do think of Lexi being very modern and Eliza very traditional but maybe that's just me (and doesn't matter anyway). Or

Eliza and Eloise
Eliza and Isabel
Eliza and Violet
Eliza and Olive

Eliza can be shortened to Lizzie, that might clash with Lexi.

Often you will be saying their names at the same time so it's handy if they roll of the tongue together.

How about Carrie and Eliza

I also like Mary and Alice. Definitely need another classic name alongside Eliza.

MooseBreath · 16/07/2022 17:35

I know two women named Lexi. One is Alexandra, one is Alexis. I quite like Lexi and Eliza!

Eliza is beautiful and Lexi is awful!

I don't think they go together at all. It's like having an Edward and a Gary

Exactly this

Isobel?
I think Eliza & Ellie sound lovely together though.

I don't. You will end up with two teenagers calked Ellie with separate friends.

Agree with the suggestion of Alexandra and Elizabeth. Two very beautiful names that you could use the shortenings of to have Eliza and Lexi.

Yes agreed. I love this.

PurpleVioletBlue · 16/07/2022 18:16

My first thought was -

Eliza and Hazel

I also like -

Eliza and Beatrix
Eliza and Violet
Eliza and Lucy
Eliza and Felicity
Eliza and Fern
Eliza and Imogen
Eliza and Amelie
Eliza and Juliet

SurpriseSurprise · 16/07/2022 22:58

I’m liking Imogen! Plus I could sell it to DH as Enid Blyton’s daughter was Imogen

He isn’t feeling Lexi, and has said that we can use it for the next dog. I still like it, but I just don’t think it goes with Eliza.

He suggested Theodora tonight but I’m not sure. I love Theodore but that extra syllable is a bit much I think

Eliza and Bella

Both derive from Elizabeth.

Meaning joyful and beautiful

Fivebeanchilli · 16/07/2022 23:25

Sorry I really dislike Lexi but I like Alexandra which goes well with Eliza.
Enid is ok but not with Eliza.
Did his grandma have a middle name?
I think Eliza fits well with...
Sadie
Amelie
Beatrice
Sophie
Matilda
Kate
Tabitha

Fivebeanchilli · 16/07/2022 23:26

Ooh I love Theodora but prefer Dorothea (and Thea is a gorgeous nn).
Imogen works well too.

fatlazycow · 16/07/2022 23:30

Can anyone explain why Lexie is ‘awful’ and why it doesn’t go with Eliza? I get not liking a name but wondered what is specifically terrible about it and in what ways it doesn’t match with Eliza.

ManualForTeens · 16/07/2022 23:33

Eliza and Rebecca

greenteafiend · 16/07/2022 23:35

strawberrryicecream · 16/07/2022 23:40

The first name that came to mind when I read your post was Abigail

Hollytreenew · 16/07/2022 23:40

When I saw the title of your post before opening I tried to think of names and thought of Enid 😂 I agree that I don’t think it is a very modern name though but couldn’t just not reply as I found it funny you had been talking about it.
Etta?
