Identical Twin Girls - Eliza and ???

I’m 19+5 with identical twins girls and we struggling with a name for one twin

We’ve agreed on Eliza for one, but haven’t decided on a middle name yet.

I really like Lexi, but I don’t know if I sounds like a “real” full name or if it sounds like it’s short for something. However I can’t work out what Lexi could be short for, I don’t want Alexa because of the whole Amazon thing!!!! I’m also unsure if Lexi and Eliza sound too harsh

DH has suggested we honour his late mum (who I never met) who’s name was Enid but always called Ellie. But I think having two “E” names is naff, whether it’s Enid and Eliza or Ellie and Eliza. Plus I don’t know anyone under about 70 called Enid.

So any suggestions on what could go with Eliza?!

My granddaughters are Elyza (with the Y) and Alexia (an I in the name)

Inertia · 16/07/2022 14:57

Eliza could be shortened to Ellie.

Not a fan of Lexi TBH, could be short for Alexandra though.

If you want names that complement one another you’d need to go fairly classical. Would avoid another E initial.

Catherine
Marianne (Marnie would work as a nn)
Madeleine
Suzanne
Amelia
Caroline
Anna

Congratulations! No new names to add, but of all the previous suggestions, these are my favourites:
Charlotte
Phoebe
Olivia
Sophia
Imogen
They all 'go with' Eliza, although I agree with PP about finding names to suit the babies individually as well as collectively.

Alix is a shortening of Alexandra that goes better with Rlixa than Lexi does.

Otherwise Eliza and Imogen go well together.

Try again.

Alix is a shortening of Alexandra that goes better with Eliza than Lexi does.

Otherwise Eliza and Imogen go well together.

Our Lexie ‘s bc name is Alexis

Inertia · 16/07/2022 15:01

Also bear in mind what Lexi would rhyme with.

Selena could be another option?

Agree with the suggestion of Alexandra and Elizabeth. Two very beautiful names that you could use the shortenings of to have Eliza and Lexi.

Very royalist sounding (but I like that).

Sorry couldn't resist!

Exactly my first thought 😂

Probably better not to go for sound-a-like names or ones that begin with the same letter to minimise confusion and the risk of them being called by each other's names in error by teachers and classmates.

So a name to complement Eliza but not one that is too much like it.

KateMcCallister · 16/07/2022 15:10

Lexi can be short for Alexis, I think Alexis and Eliza goes well? The other would be Alexandra but I think it's a bit mis-matched with Eliza as one is long and the other short.

Eliza and Louisa?

I don't think you could do Eliza and Ellie, but for what it's worth I do quite like Enid.

I don't love Lexi, but Alexis / Alexia / Alexandra are good alternatives to Alexa. You could also think about Alicia / Alyssa.
