Positive comments on the name Wilf please!!

My husband and I have pretty much decided our baby boy will be Wilf. However, I made the mistake of reading some threads with opinions on the name and have read a lot of negative reactions to the name which has knocked our confidence with it! Can I ask for anybody with positive associations with the name to share them. I don’t need to hear the negative thoughts again! Thank you 😊

Wilf is quite a cute name for a toddler. But you have to picture the full life of the name. Teenage Wilf? Grown-up professional Wilf?

I have a very nearly 8 year old Wilfred (Wilf) - named after my grandad. We’ve never had any negative comments from anyone.

I also know a grown up professional Wilf. Short for Wilfred. Never batted an eyelid at the name, it suits him. It's a nice name.

It's a popular name now so I think there will be several Wilfs as your son grows up - it won't be an unusual name anymore iyswim

If you like it then you won’t care what other people think. Everyone will have a different opinion and I think it’s a hideous name but it’s your child and you like it so that’s all that matters

It’s a bit odd asking for people to tell you your choice is a good one. It’s your child. He’s hardly going to come back onto MN as a teenager/grown man and berate us for giving him that name, is he 🤔That’s going to be all on you.

Love it. I know a lovely young adult called Wilf, none of his peers think the name remotely out of the ordiNary. If yours turns out like him he’ll be doing well 👍
