My husband and I have pretty much decided our baby boy will be Wilf. However, I made the mistake of reading some threads with opinions on the name and have read a lot of negative reactions to the name which has knocked our confidence with it! Can I ask for anybody with positive associations with the name to share them. I don’t need to hear the negative thoughts again! Thank you 😊

I know an adult Wilf, he is lovely. Kind of a floppy haired young-Hugh-Grant type.

I’m afraid right now I’d be worried about looking like a Boris superfan though.

I like the nn Will.

Will will cause problems when speaking as Will is such a common verb. Will Will come? Etc

I can think of ten Wills from the top of my head. Clearly the problem isn’t insurmountable.

Boris has a Wilfred. Enough to put me off.

That was my first thought.

If my DD7 was a boy she would have been Wilfred/ Wilfie.
I love it

I thought it was Milf rather than Wilf that 'stood for' anything dubious ... I quite like Wilf, so what if it's connected with Boris, once he's no longer in power no one will remember.

I’d much rather be called Wilf than Wilfred.

Wilfred is just awful.

My colleague has a Wilf (he is registered as Wilf too) and the name choice seemed really strange when he was a baby but he’s now 20 months old and it seems a really cute name for him.

I could picture a teenager called Wilf…..as long as his real name isn’t Wilfred.

I could imagine a grown up Wilf too.

To summarise: I like Wilf but can’t bear Wilfred 😂
