What would you think if you met a baby 'Hades'?

Is his brother called Satan?

MahsAllToff · 25/04/2022 17:35

Hell

That their parents were bonkers or Satan worshippers

Hugsgalore · 25/04/2022 17:35

😂😂😂

gggbird · 25/04/2022 17:35

No, first child Wink

Wouldn't bother me. I wouldn't call my child it, but I do quite like it.

DurhamDurham · 25/04/2022 17:36

I'd think the parents were trying too hard to be different and controversial. Probably think 'poor kid'

HirplesWithHaggis · 25/04/2022 17:36

Lucifer, the carrier of light, would be better.

Butfirstcoffees · 25/04/2022 17:37

Just FYI Hades is not the equivalent of Satan.

notacooldad · 25/04/2022 17:37

I'd think his mum didnt like him!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/04/2022 17:37

I’d wonder if there was another connection I was not aware of.

BitOutOfPractice · 25/04/2022 17:38

I’d think “bloody hell!” Literally.

mid also think that the parents either didn’t know what it means, or that they’re trying too hard to be “interesting”.

DemBonesDemBones · 25/04/2022 17:40

My kids have names from mythology. I'd think the parents of a child called Hades weren't very well read, probably. If it turned out they were well read and made this decision anyway I'd think they were attention seekers and didn't have very good judgement.

KeyErro · 25/04/2022 17:41

I'd hope his name was Hayden and I'd just misheard it 😮

EveSix · 25/04/2022 17:41

😂

But seriously...

toastofthetown · 25/04/2022 17:42

No. While Hades isn't the equivalent of Satan, naming your child after the god of the underworld is still questionable. You child's name is theirs (not something to reflect your own interests and personality), it's probably the first piece of information they will give to everyone they meet and it seems cruel to give them something so culturally loaded, which has such negative cultural baggage.

iklboo · 25/04/2022 17:43

It's terrible. Poor kid. Unless you & DP are called Cronus & Rhea, then have at you.

TerenceTrentLoughborough · 25/04/2022 17:43

I'd think their parents had hairy hands and lived under a bridge.

gggbird · 25/04/2022 17:44

So the association with 'the hades' is that strong?

OP posts:
Punkypinky · 25/04/2022 17:45

I needed a laugh today thanks 😂

MintJulia · 25/04/2022 17:45

Horrible. Sorry but a truly mean thing to do to a child.

I'd wonder why they picked Hades rather than Anubis or Pluto...

IncompleteSenten · 25/04/2022 17:49

I'd wonder why they wanted to give their child a name that is known worldwide as the Greek god of the underworld and the dead.

IncompleteSenten · 25/04/2022 17:49

Yes.

CallMeNutribullet · 25/04/2022 17:49

Op. Instead of thinking of a name that will make you feel cool and edgy, why don't you think about the kind of name your child might actually want to live with as a separate person from you, who will one day become an adult, and how he might be perceived being named after the god of the underworld?
