Woods

I appreciate this name isn't going to be for everyone and will get mixed reviews. Woody is becoming more accepted as a stand alone name now but I much prefer Woods.

Given River/s, Brook/s, Forrest etc are becoming popular. Do you think Woods can work?

Woodrow?
It's a bit American, I know but I like Woodrow and also Winslow.

LadyFlumpalot · 04/03/2022 18:22

Only if your happy that your child will have "Woodys got woood" or some variant of chanted at them everyday from the age of 8 upwards.

DotDotDotDotDot · 04/03/2022 18:26

What about Elwood? Could be Woods as a nickname.

AndStand · 04/03/2022 18:41

Wasn't Woods in the Gryffindor quidditch team?
But it WAS his surname. And that's because it IS a surname and not a first name

Bumpmakes4 · 04/03/2022 18:42

I wood choose another name personally

Cakecakeandcake · 04/03/2022 18:44

There should be laws for parents who name their children silly names.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 04/03/2022 18:44

Is there some kind of a mumsnet competition for awful names? So many of these threads recently.

pencilwoods · 04/03/2022 18:56

We have a dog woody who gets called woods, woodster, woo woo!!! I don't see it as a child's name.

WaltzingToWalsingham · 04/03/2022 19:03

Morning wood(s)

Don't Google it if you dont know what it means!

ThisBloodyNoiseInMyHead · 04/03/2022 19:04

It's ridiculous.

Luredbyapomegranate · 04/03/2022 20:05

No. Don’t be insane.

As a nn for Edward, OK, because he can loose it.

Fernsinthegarden · 04/03/2022 20:07

I knew a Forrest at school and he suited it completely, it was never shortened. Was on my shortlist for a boy 😊

FindingMeno · 04/03/2022 20:10

Nope.

Ginger1982 · 04/03/2022 20:12

Erm...no. Don't be daft.

WeasilyPleased · 04/03/2022 22:45

Woody is ok. Woods is rubbish. Sorry OP.

Spasiba · 04/03/2022 22:50

Woods, as in 'does a bear shit in the woods?'?

Mischance · 04/03/2022 22:53

I prefer Coppice myself.

Viviennemary · 05/03/2022 00:22

Or Glade even. That has a certain strength.

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 05/03/2022 00:28

Woods is a YouTuber on a channel DS and I watch. Its short for Woodland.

I'm torn between "what the fuck were his parents thinking?" And "that's a seriously cool name!"

ErrolTheDragon · 05/03/2022 08:13

@Mischance

I prefer Coppice myself.
Sounds like a bit of a Pollard to me tbh
Footnote · 05/03/2022 08:20

We had a Forrest at school, known as Florist. Teenage wit.

ineedsun · 05/03/2022 08:22

@deadlanguage

No. It’s a surname. It sounds like he’s being told off by a 1950s teacher.
Or a prison officer
honeylou42 · 05/03/2022 08:23

No

Marmelace · 05/03/2022 08:25

Isn't woody used for penis?

FolkSongSweet · 05/03/2022 08:28

Poor child. At least if you insist on it, give them a proper middle name so they’ve got options.

It’s truly awful OP.
