love this name so much it's on my list x

Hairyfriend · 27/01/2022 21:19

Is it pronounced Oat-ee or Ott-ee?

Not keen but thats me.

Lipsandlashes · 27/01/2022 21:20

It’s definitely a MN crowd pleaser

NuffSaidSam · 27/01/2022 21:21

I like it as a nickname, but I wouldn't want it as a full name.

ofwarren · 27/01/2022 21:22

I don't like it. It sounds like the name of a toy otter.

Indecisive29 · 27/01/2022 21:22

@Gigi97 I like it 😊 although personally I’d use Ottilie with Ottie as a nickname 😊

@Hairyfriend it’s Ott-ee

FooKingDong · 27/01/2022 21:22

Wouldn't it be an abbreviation of Ottilie (as in the correct pronunciation, Ott-ee-lee-a, as opposed to the incorrect Otterly)? If so, why not use the full name? Or Ottoline? The latter is lovely, and less common.

premiumcogd · 27/01/2022 21:25

My niece is Ottilie with Ottie as a nickname. Don't like it personally

It's one of those names which is cute for a baby but once they start growing up they become a teenager/adult with a really babyish name.

Cheesecakeandwineinasuitcase · 27/01/2022 21:26

It sounds like a nickname or shortened version of a name. I prefer Charlotte with the shortening Lottie.

DramaAlpaca · 27/01/2022 21:27

I don't like it at all.

Lots of options for teasing - it rhymes with spotty, grotty, dotty... you get the picture.

Crowdfundingforcake · 27/01/2022 21:28

Ottilie with Ottie as a nn, OK, but not Ottie as a standalone. 'Ottie the hottie.....'

Snowiscold · 27/01/2022 21:29

It’s terrible.

Ceramide · 27/01/2022 21:31

I don't like it, sorry

Surgarblossom · 27/01/2022 21:44

Not a nice name at all ( imo)

1smallhamsterfoot · 27/01/2022 21:47

Snotty

This, it sounds like a nickname not a full name
BugsyDrakeTableScape · 27/01/2022 21:51

Not a name I would choose

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 27/01/2022 22:11

It's what a Liverpudlian calls a their Hot Water Bottle.

Awful. Bad enough for a child, horrible name for an adult woman.

EyesAsGreenAsAFreshPickledToad · 28/01/2022 00:08

Awful name. Your dd needs a name that works in adulthood too. It's too "cutesy" and childish.

CourtRand · 28/01/2022 00:17

Why would it be Lee-a on the end when it's spelt ie?
Bluemamma · 28/01/2022 08:35

Sounds like otter a bit so it’s a no from me.

Luredbyapomegranate · 28/01/2022 10:18

Surely only as a short form of Otterlie?!

Ottie is potty as a name for a grown up.

Luredbyapomegranate · 28/01/2022 10:18

I mean OTTILIE
