Lenni isn't a name I'd choose, because it puts me in mind of Leni Riefenstahl.
However, it's more androgynous than masculine nowadays.

Gosh OP, quite a lot of unimaginative people commenting on this thread! By unimaginative, I mean people who have only ever heard of 'Lenny' as short for Leonard and can't imagine there might be another origin for this name.
I am only going to come at you with spelling.. when I see Leni written down, I get kind of a Scandi/Germanic quite interesting vibe from it that is definitely female, but weirdly by the addition of another 'n' in Lenni, it seems more try-hard and less feminine. It starts to fall into the Jimmi, Ronni, Olli, category of boys names that have taken over my current reception class.
Sorry, just the connotations that spring to my mind. Strange what one letter can do to a name!
Also Sophia wins as the second name.. less vowel sounds to contend withSmile

I have a German background and am a fluent German speaker… Leni is a different name, short for a female name, and pronounced completely differently to Lenni.

I prefer Leni but quite like Lenni too.

Better, to me, than the awful Winifred and Harriet names that people coo over.

@hollie29x

I couldn't care less if people think of Lennie from 'of mice and men' ; my brother is disabled, does that mean his name can't be used either for any of my children? I can't be the only one that thinks you are utterly disgusting for even suggesting a name can't be used because a book has used it on a disabled character.

Whole site is full of horrible twisted vile human beings that sit being a keyboard and give their opinions where they aren't needed.

I would rather use an 'awful' name than be an awful person which many of you clearly are!

I don’t think anyone’s suggesting there’s anything wrong with it as a nn OP, it’s quite sweet. But your daughter may not thank you for it as a full name.
