Which do you prefer?

Lenni Sophia

Or

Lenni Olivia

Yeah Lenni isn't great unless you have some family reason for calling her that. I would go with a more traditional version then use lenni as a nickname. Or go for Lene or Lena.

solania · 07/01/2022 15:25

I like Lenni very much, it's quirky and quite a feisty sort of name, though I prefer Leni as a spelling but thats just my personal taste. I’d be inclined to use a longer name like Helena and have Lenni/Leni as a nickname but that’s because I’m old fashioned like that 😆

Lenni Olivia is my slight preference but that’s because I don’t much like the name Sophia (again, my personal taste!). They both roll nicely off the tongue though.

Don’t let the gripers get you down, OP!

bigbeatmanifesto · 07/01/2022 15:27

The comments you've received are the exact reason I never told anyone my babies names until they were born people are so negative, I prefer Lenni Sophia out of your choices & also think Lenni is really cute but would spell it Lennie myself.

DisforDarkChocolate · 07/01/2022 15:27

I don't think Lenni goes with either.

PenguinLove1 · 07/01/2022 15:28

Lenni is nice but more feminine when spelled Leni ? Like Heidi Klums daughter?

Leni Sophia is nice

hoomae · 07/01/2022 15:29

Lenii Sophia

Speakingmymind · 07/01/2022 17:00

I never asked for opinions on wether anyone liked the name Lenni as our minds are already made up, why someone would take the time to tell me it's 'awful' etc I really don't know.

Trying to be helpful? Calling your daughter a man's name is out there and the number of responses telling you that should hopefully make you think again about your choice.

Ribosome · 07/01/2022 17:02

Sophia Olivia

I don't really like Lenni

Cissyandflora · 07/01/2022 17:04

@nocoolnamesleft

Lennie immediately makes me think about Of Mice and Men, and the mentally disabled field hand who killed a woman, and then was shot by his friend, before he could be killed by the lynch mob.
Why no spoiler alert?

I don't think your responses are helpful. The op has already decided on Lenni. Thankfully we all have different tastes - makes life more interesting!

I vote Lenni Sophia.

Crankley · 07/01/2022 17:27

Lenni is awful. Either Sophia or Olivia are so much nicer.

Blubells · 07/01/2022 17:33

Op, I think you should ignore the posters who are clearly ignoring the fact that you've already chosen your DD's name. Or perhaps get the thread deleted?

Gindrinker43 · 07/01/2022 17:43

Lennie is a Scottish surname and a boys name so this choice would cause some confusion even if you swapped the order around.

Cbeebiesrehab · 07/01/2022 18:27

I actually really like Lenni but would you consider Leni as it looks a little more feminine and is more of a ‘recognised’ girls name? I think Leni Sophia is lovely and the names balance each other out.
Leni/Lenni won’t stand out as unisex names are much more popular now! I know girls called Stevie, Andi, Noa (aware this is a girls name but said aloud sounds like the masculine version) Rae…the list goes on!

GucciBear · 07/01/2022 19:23

Sophia and Olivia are beautiful. Lenni is a great name for a lioness......

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 07/01/2022 21:38

Surely better to know that most people will hear lenni and think " bloke from mice and men" than to discover it once your baby is actually hee?

hollie29x · 07/01/2022 22:24

I couldn't care less if people think of Lennie from 'of mice and men' ; my brother is disabled, does that mean his name can't be used either for any of my children? I can't be the only one that thinks you are utterly disgusting for even suggesting a name can't be used because a book has used it on a disabled character.

Whole site is full of horrible twisted vile human beings that sit being a keyboard and give their opinions where they aren't needed.

I would rather use an 'awful' name than be an awful person which many of you clearly are!

@hollie29x I love them both actually 😊 both work really well with Lenni 😊

Bet your glad you asked about names with all these responses you’ve got OP BlushGrin I love Lenni! Personally I would spell it Lennie - I have a thing about how names feel to write and names ending in an “i” always feel unnatural for me to write 🙈 (I’m strange, I know) 🤣 I think the “e” makes it feel more finished (if that’s even a thing 🤣)
And I don’t think it’s a “boys” name at all 🤔 and even it were traditionally a boys name - as are Freddy, Jamie, Charlie & Cameron but I know girls with all those names 🤷🏻‍♀️😊

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 07/01/2022 22:46

It was the very obviously male aspect....but if that is where your brain goes....

Of course it’s a male name. It’s traditionally short for Leonard. I feel sorry for a girl named Lennie or Freddie etc. Why don’t their parents think a female name is good enough? It’s entrenched misogyny tbh.

It’s the tragedy and masculinity that would put me off not the disability… I don’t think you should name your daughter Macbeth either.
Onelifeonly · 08/01/2022 00:05

I don't like Lenni but Sophia sounds better with it to me.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/01/2022 00:26

Leni isn't "awful" at all imo - it's a pretty and internationally well known girls name (currently very popular in Germany and Austria). Leni Sophia looks and sounds lovely. My slight concern would be the Lenni spelling, as I think in the UK she could have people seeing only her first name and surname and thinking it's a miswritten Lennie - a rapidly rising boys name along with Lenny. But I suppose there are plenty of others who have unisex names or spellings with no big issues.

BDavis · 08/01/2022 04:41

Why don’t their parents think a female name is good enough?

@PattyPan that’s absolute nonsense in my opinion! But it’s your opinion and your entitled to it. On the off-chance that OPs daughter grows up and feels her name is too masculine a name then she’ll be able to go by her middle name which plenty of people do 🤷🏻‍♀️

fernyflax · 08/01/2022 09:50

Going against the grain, I quite like Lenni. I would spell it Leni though. My niece is an Elenor who gets called Leni for short. Lennie autocorrected to Lenin for me.
