None of my family (apart from DH) like this name at all but we love it so much.

We want to call our little boy Timothy.

Timothy is a good name!

BaronessBomburst · 29/12/2021 23:52

It's lovely! Smile

Gagagardener · 29/12/2021 23:53

It is a lovely name, with a long history and easy abbreviations. If you and baby boy's dad like it, choose it!

I love it. It was on my shortlist for my ds. It’s a nice alternative to Thomas and a stronger name growing up than Toby imo.

Dancingonmoonlight · 29/12/2021 23:54

I love it and Tim is a great nn.

Snow1n · 29/12/2021 23:57

Love it!! I wouldnt share potential names outside of you and dh because you will end up with a list as long as your arm of names you 'cant' use because someone once knew someone with that name and I didnt like them and it reminds me of them...

I was thinking that it's a name that evolves with the child.

Baby - Timothy
Child- Timmy
Adult - Tim

It's lovely

Baby could be a timmy when young and a Tim when older. It's a name that works for both a child and an adult quite well

I love it. I know a lovely Tim ( adult) who is part of a really lovely family.
Have never met a nasty Timothy/Tim .

NinaDefoe · 30/12/2021 00:01

I’ve got real affection for names like Timothy and Thomas.
Timmy, Tim, Tom, Tommy! Lovely names ♥️

kookievee · 30/12/2021 00:02

Am married to a Timothy.

He's never been a Timmy though, just a Tim. He says Timmy is too Famous Five, but I'm not sure those books are as popular these days?

schnubbins · 30/12/2021 00:03

I have a Timothy aged 23 years. We have always called him Tim . He loves his name and his middle name which is John.

Onlinedilema · 30/12/2021 00:03

It's a fine name.

Immaculatemisconception · 30/12/2021 00:04

It’s lovely ❤️. Don’t discuss your name choices with anyone but DH and Mumsnet.

LyraVega · 30/12/2021 00:04

Nothing wrong with it OP, but definitely don't share any names with anyone before they're born!

groovergirl · 30/12/2021 00:05

Love it. Botanical names are excellent!

Ceramide · 30/12/2021 00:06

It's a nice classic name which is underused and due a comeback.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/12/2021 00:27

In my opinion no its awful. Factually though, There's no such thing as a nice or horrible name, so If you both like it go for it.

finallychangedmyusername · 30/12/2021 01:26

I was just thinking the other day about what a wonderful name Timothy is. Understated and handsome.

DramaAlpaca · 30/12/2021 01:27

It's a great name, an underused classic.

ChocolateDeficitDisorder · 30/12/2021 01:28

The actor Timothee Chalamet is a rising star. He could make the name popular over the next few years.

Nancydrawn · 30/12/2021 02:36

Lovely name.

JamieFrasersBigSwingingKilt · 30/12/2021 05:38

Sorry but I think it's a weak name. My friend's dad is called Timothy and she thinks it's a bland name too. Definitely didn't want to use it as a middle name for her son.

ImmutableSexQueen · 30/12/2021 06:03

Timothy is a lovely name. When I opened the thread, expecting the worst, I saw 'Timothy' and it made me smile.
