Elizabeth Jane or Tessa Joy.

Connotations or associations I may not have thought of welcomed!

Elizabeth Jane

DisforDarkChocolate · 21/12/2021 14:54

I love them both, sorry. I also love them with the middle names swapped.

My favourite out of all the combinations. Elizabeth Joy.

emmathedilemma · 21/12/2021 14:55

I prefer Elizabeth Jane. Tessa is ok, it's just the only Joy i've ever known was anything but one!
Elizabeth has more nn options which might or might not be a benefit.

Jemimapuddleduk · 21/12/2021 14:56

Tessa Joy
My dd has Elizabeth and Joy as middle names so I love your choices! I’d also be tempted by Joy as a firstname, it’s so unusual for this generation and it’s gorgeous.

numberthirtytwowindsorgardens · 21/12/2021 15:00

Thank you for the lovely replies! We'd probably call her Lizzie if it's Elizabeth on a day to day basis, if that affects anyone's view.

(And I love Joy, but I share @emmathedilemma's fear about what would happen if she turns out to be an Eeyoreish type!)

Elizabeth Jane. Love Elizabeth. Not keen on Tessa. Jane is a really undervalued, underused classic name too. Joy is also lovely.

SquigglePigs · 21/12/2021 15:04

They're both lovely but I particularly like Tessa - you don't hear it very often.

DebbieHarrysCheekbones · 21/12/2021 15:12

Tessa Joy is lovely
Elizabeth Jane makes me think of Enid Blyton not naughty Amelia Jane but the sort of name a Mallory towers sensible sort would have, but it is still a nice name

Viviennemary · 21/12/2021 15:17

Elizabeth Jane by miles. Don't like much Tessa or Joy personally but theyre ok.

Adventing · 21/12/2021 15:31

Am I allowed to say Elizabeth Joy Smile

delshell · 21/12/2021 15:48

Elizabeth Jane. Not keen on Tessa. I do love Joy though, so personally I would go for Elizabeth Joy, if that's an option!

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 21/12/2021 15:52

Tess(a) by a long shot. I do prefer Tess as it sounds a bit zippier but Tessa is lovely.

Joy is great too.

I have a strong dislike of Elizabeth. It sounds haughty and joyless to me for some reason.

Vthirtyone · 21/12/2021 15:58

Elizabeth Joy (sorry I know that's not officially an option Grin)

Stade197 · 21/12/2021 16:00

I like Elizabeth Jane, id use Lizzie on a day to day basis

ButterflyBitch · 21/12/2021 16:01

I like Tessa. Bit different. How about Tessa Jane?

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 21/12/2021 16:04

Both lovely. I’d probably choose Elizabeth Jane.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 21/12/2021 16:05

Tessa Jane if I can't do a swap, if not Elizabeth Jane. I think, like a PP that a name like Joy is potentially a bit of a burden (knowing, as I do, the most bleak and miserable 'Summer' to be believed)

newrubylane · 21/12/2021 16:05

@emmathedilemma

I prefer Elizabeth Jane. Tessa is ok, it's just the only Joy i've ever known was anything but one! Elizabeth has more nn options which might or might not be a benefit.
Do we know the same one? 😁
Fivebeanchilli · 21/12/2021 16:07

I really like Tessa and like Elizabeth as well.
I hate one-syllable middle names though as they feel like filler names.
So I would prefer Elizabeth Tessa or Tessa Elizabeth.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 21/12/2021 16:07

Elizabeth Jane.
I had a friend called Tessa when I was little, and she was very boring.

elfran · 21/12/2021 16:12

I love Tessa, and either of the middle options sounds great with it.

Elizabeth has a ton of good nn options (Betty, Betsy, Zabe, Eliza) but I'm not keen on it on its own.

GiltEdges · 21/12/2021 16:13

Tessa Jane would be my choice.

WhatScratch · 21/12/2021 16:15

Elizabeth Joy or Tessa Jane.

miamiibiza · 21/12/2021 16:18

Tessa

DameAlyson · 21/12/2021 16:28

Elizabeth, with either Jane or Joy. Although I think one of the obnoxious Marchwood twins in the Abbey books was Elizabeth Joy.

Elizabeth is a lovely name in its own right - classic and dignified - and there are so many possible abbreviations for her to choose from as she grows up.
