Elizabeth Jane or Tessa Joy.

Connotations or associations I may not have thought of welcomed!

Personally I love Elizabeth Joy but think both combinations work.

ThirdElephant · 21/12/2021 19:18

Tessa to me is a wirehaired terrier I once knew.

I'd go with Elizabeth Jane (admittedly, both are sisters from Pride and Prejudice, but I don't think that's an inherently bad thing).

schoolsoutforever · 21/12/2021 19:29

Elizabeth (middle name not really important). Lizzie is a great diminutive.

Cam2020 · 21/12/2021 19:30

I don't like Tessa, sounds a bit like tosser...although I'm sure you could make a horrible nickname out of any name if you wanted to and I doubt anyone of her generation would even use that word!

Love Elizabeth though.

numberthirtytwowindsorgardens · 21/12/2021 19:37

Thanks so much for all the thoughts!

Not sure I'm any clearer in my mind - think I was hoping someone would come up with an excellent reason why I can't use one of them!

Tessa Joy! Tess was on our list. Smile

Tucancrossing · 21/12/2021 20:14

Tessa Joy 💯

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/12/2021 20:15

Elizabeth Jane - so very classic and while I'm personally less keen on Lizzie, Elizabeth is one of those "can't go wrong" names as it's completely timeless with dozens of nn's to choose from. And Jane is very classy and so underused now.

I don't dislike Tessa but it's my least favourite variation of Teresa - I much prefer simple Tess or even traditional Teresa itself. And Joy just isn't my taste - it sounds slightly dated somehow to me (maybe because the only ones I know are 40 plus).

AnyaMoondial · 21/12/2021 20:17

Tessa Jane is a great name.

frogswimming · 21/12/2021 20:17

Is Teddy shirt for Theresa?

I'd go Elizabeth Jane or Theresa Joy

MerryMarigold · 21/12/2021 20:19

I like Tessa Joy. Middle names aren't frequently used anyway but it's a lovely meaning. Joy doesn't mean extroverted or super positive.

Jane is the most boring name on the planet and Elizabeth is a close second. Whatever you do, don't combine them!

polkadotpixie · 21/12/2021 20:49

Elizabeth Joy (although I'm not fond of Lizzie, I prefer Eliza or Betsy). I don't like Tessa, it's too much like tosser and no-one wants to be known as Tessa the tosser at school

IncompleteSenten · 21/12/2021 20:53

Do you have a coin?

Toss it.

Heads it's Elizabeth Jane

Tails it's Tessa Joy

When I am finding it impossible to make a choice I do this. 9 times out of 10 when the coin is in the air I suddenly find myself thinking I hope it's ...

If you toss the coin and that happens - That's your answer. You don't even need to look at your coin.if you don't get that sudden feeling they you may as well go with the coin.

17caterpillars1mouse · 21/12/2021 21:15

Tessa Joy is lovely

I like Elizabeth too but not really Jane.

I know quite a few small Elizabeth's but no Tessa's

Beamur · 21/12/2021 21:22

Elizabeth.
Don't like Tessa as a name, as a NN for Theresa/Therese/Esther maybe.
Not much to choose between Joy or Jane as a middle name. Both nice.
Joy has slight Handmaid's Tale tones to me though!

Snooptheboot · 21/12/2021 21:40

Tessa Joy

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/12/2021 21:51

Both lovely - but Tessa as fewer of them

You could be greedy and have Tessa Elizabeth Joy which works v well

Ah, so you want reasons to dislike them?

Right. Well, Tessa is on this website's list of most recommended dog names.

www.boredcesar.com/top-100-female-dog-names-with-meanings/

It also stands for tax exempt special savings account.

Does that help?

FixItUpChappie · 21/12/2021 23:41

Tessa for sure - I love it

numberthirtytwowindsorgardens · 22/12/2021 20:37

😂 You know, it actually does! Thank you!

Tessa Jane would be my choice. Both lovely but uncommon names now. Lots of Jane's in my age group but it seems to have lost popularity.

Cotswoldmama · 22/12/2021 21:20

Tessa Joy

Enko · 22/12/2021 21:56

Tessa Joy by far

astersugar · 22/12/2021 21:59

Have you considered Elizabeth with the nickname Bess?
