For a girl.
Remi Josephine Lucille
To join siblings Amelie and Louie, any thoughts?

I’ve only known one Remi who was a boy. It really suited him. I think it could work for a girl but I think it’s too similar sounding with the sibling names.

Whinge · 03/12/2021 10:02

I much prefer Josephine. not helpful Grin Although Remi is nice, I think it sounds too similar to your other children's names.

ISeeTheLight · 03/12/2021 10:03

I love it but it's a boy's name. My 92 year old grandfather is called Remi.

SingleHandSue · 03/12/2021 10:05

I’d assume Remi was a boys’ name.

I work with a lovely Romi though so how about that?

Tal45 · 03/12/2021 10:11

I think Lucille is much nicer and goes with your other names much better. Amelie, Louie and Remi and a right mouthful together but Amelie, Louie and Lucille run really nicely.

Lollipoppit · 03/12/2021 10:18

@Tal45 in my accent Amelie, Louie and Lucille is more clunky for the tongue.
Also, Louie and Lucy are really similar.

I know a 9 year old female Remi. She's Chinese. I think it's a pretty name.

MauveMavis · 03/12/2021 10:23

Remi is the common abbreviation for an opiate medication Remifentanil used during anaesthesia/ ICU sedation.

Anyone who works in anaesthetics, hospital pharmacy or intensive care wouldn't hear it without thinking of that.

This might not bother you but I thought you should know.

VenusClapTrap · 03/12/2021 10:24

Too much of a male name for me.

BarbaraLoganPrice · 03/12/2021 10:24

Josephine and Lucille are so much nicer and go better with your other names. It seems such a shame to put both of these as middle names!

Onehotmess · 03/12/2021 10:25

Remi the rat in Ratatouille 😬 but also I think the real name of the character ‘13’ in House.

user1493494961 · 03/12/2021 10:57

I also thought it was for a boy, Josephine is nice.

LadySybilRamekin · 03/12/2021 11:04

Don't give her a boy's name! Unless you're willing to start calling yourself Brian for a year to check how annoying it is to have people assume the wrong sex it's not fair to put it on your child.

scottishnames · 03/12/2021 11:29

Remi/Remy is very much a male name. It comes from a Latin word that means 'oarsman'. St Remigius - the name that Remi is a shortening of - is one of the patron saints of France.

St Remy is also the name of the world's best-selling brandy.

idontlikealdi · 03/12/2021 11:37

The only remi I know is the rat from ratatouille, I don't dislike it though

BigYellowHat · 03/12/2021 11:39

Awful. I know someone who’s kid is called that and we always take the piss behind their back. Their other kid has an equally awful name.

Hummingbirdcake · 03/12/2021 11:40

Prefer Romy tbh.

Wellington17 · 03/12/2021 12:05

@BigYellowHat, you sound like a twat.

I quite like it! Might even consider it myself :)

There's lots of boys names that are given to girls so can't see the difference here. There's people calling their girls James these days, which is much more obviously boyish

TerribleCustomerCervix · 03/12/2021 12:12

This is what I thought of as well.

As an aside, if you haven’t had the baby yet I can personally recommend it as a very effective form of pain relief Grin

toastofthetown · 03/12/2021 12:20

Not sure where you are but in England and Wales Remi was used twice as often for girls than boys (though Remy was used more often for boys than Remi was for girls) so here it’s pretty gender neutral. Both spellings are rocketing in popularity at the moment.

RuthW · 03/12/2021 12:22

I only know Remi as a girl's name so must be unisex as other say they know boys.

It's a perfectly reasonable name but not to my taste.

TatianaBis · 03/12/2021 13:15

Much prefer Josephine or Romy/Romilly.

PAFMO · 03/12/2021 17:51

It's a (rare) boy's name here in Italy.

ThatNameAgainItsMrPlow · 03/12/2021 17:54

Remi is the boy rat in Ratatouille

Violetparis · 03/12/2021 17:56

My immediate thought was Remi from The Stone Roses.
