I like it, DH is unconvinced.

@Tsuro yes! On the Finchley High Road! Always friendly, although he could turn nasty on occasion. I think he died a few years ago now.

I think we can wait a while for a Maurice comeback and I'm not sure Humphrey is ready to be resurrected just yet.

We have a friend called Maurice - I only know that because I saw an official document of his once. He goes by a different name - not in a 'Maurice, generally known as Mike' way but his name is recorded in all walks of his life as just 'Mike' (not his actual known name, but you get the point). He detests his real name - Maurice - and has said that he would have changed it officially to 'Mike' but for not wanting to upset his DM. After she has gone, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he goes ahead and does it.

And imho, Horace is significantly worse than Maurice. It instantly brings to mind words like horrid, horrible, horrendous, horror, horrific - lots of common, very unpleasant words. Personally speaking, it'd be a firm No from me.

....and our friend Maurice/Mike is middle-aged - not a baby now in 2021.

Horatio- very much yes.
@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Hihi. I have just done an 'advanced search' on my own username, and I last posted under this particular name in 2009. Horatio was born in 2002.
@TheGreenManIsFlashing
well, you should know better about nest of vipers then!😁

I do like Horatio but only because of David Caruso's role in CSI Miami. (He is on my "best deep voices" list).
If anyone ever introduced the as "I'm Horatio" I'd find it hard to stop myself from referring to Lt. Caine.

TheGreenManIsFlashing · 07/11/2021 09:07

@campion he's universally known as Horace, though. Or occasionally Racey. Still the best name ever.

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba I love the idea of a 'best deep voices' list. I used to fancy the man who did the adverts when the utilities were privatised by Margaret Thatcher. No idea what he looked like or who he was, but his voice was quite something. Grin

@TheGreenManIsFlashing
Not sure which one is the 'best name ever'. Is it Horatio, Horace or Racey? Since you named him Horatio, I'm thinking that. OTOH if he's known as Horace, maybe that, in which case, why isn't that his official name?

BTW you can't have a 'best name ever' as my choices are definitely superiorGrin

What about Hubert? Hubie is sweet

Grin

We evidently both have superior taste.

I went for Horatio as his birth cert name (though he has always been known as Horace) because I love both names. If he wants to revert to Horatio, he can. I'm not so keen on Racey - that has come from friends, along with Horrie.

Possibly for a rabbit. For a child - no.
