I've now said it some many times it started to sound like "whore ass"

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 06/11/2021 13:35

@Ihopeyourcakeisshit

Horace could get together with Myrtle on the other baby name thread. What are people thinking.
lol

I've just said the same on the Myrtle thread

TheGreenManIsFlashing · 06/11/2021 13:35

@BlowDryRat

Oh alright then Blush I like Horatio too.
It is a fantastic name. Horatio, known as Horace. I have one!
MajorCarolDanvers · 06/11/2021 13:36

Oh dear I really don't like that at all. Sorry.

NotAnotherPylon · 06/11/2021 13:37

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba I thought that too!!

TheGreenManIsFlashing · 06/11/2021 13:38

I'm going to be the sole defender of Horatios/Horaces, aren't I? Grin

It's still the best name ever (apart from my other children's names, obviously).

OP, MN has no taste. If you love it, use it!

Mojoj · 06/11/2021 13:39

Don't do it!

EnidFrighten · 06/11/2021 13:40

I kind of like it but I guess it's a bad name for an introvert

I think Maurice is due a comeback too

NoraLuka · 06/11/2021 13:41

I quite like it Blush

Also like Homer, it’s a shame the Simpsons made it unusable

TeeTotaller1 · 06/11/2021 13:48

Oh god no
I know a Cecil, he's in his 40's, he goes by the name of Dave.
Refuses to acknowledge the name he was christened with.
I don't blame him

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/11/2021 13:51

Dreadful. My husband's grandfather was a Horace but fortunately it was never suggested for our son.

I'm probably in a minority of one here, but I like Humphrey. Any good?

AandWsMum · 06/11/2021 13:51

I know a ‘Horace’ who’s name is shortened to Horrie.

I personally think that’s even worse 😂

JudgementalCactus · 06/11/2021 13:54

It just sounds so harsh and blunt. A mouthful to say. Fit rather for a grumpy old man than a baby.

JudgementalCactus · 06/11/2021 13:55

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba

My thought exactly!
MollysDolly · 06/11/2021 13:56

I don't know why, but I think of a rabbit, or hare.

JudgementalCactus · 06/11/2021 13:56

Horatio on the other hand is usable.

I like the very exotic Horia too.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 06/11/2021 14:00

I think we can wait a while for a Maurice comeback and I'm not sure Humphrey is ready to be resurrected just yet. Grin

TeeTotaller1 · 06/11/2021 14:01

Hero?
Hadley?
Hector?

2bazookas · 06/11/2021 14:02

Horace the Horse.
Horace the whore horse.

Please no.

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 06/11/2021 14:07

Horace Boris. That would be best.

TheCallerWithheldTheirNumber · 06/11/2021 14:07

That's another good name.
EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 06/11/2021 14:11

@Tsuro

When I hear the name Horace I automatically think ‘The best of luck’. This is due to a man in North London called Horace who regularly used to say it - I realise most people won’t have the same connection!
I remember him! Round Islington / Haringey area around 10 years ago. I didn’t know he was called Horace.

It reminds me of the Roman poet who always came across to me as a bit hapless.

celestebellman · 06/11/2021 14:11

Probably only Scottish people of a certain age will think this but makes me think of Horace from The Broons (wimpy swot). So on that basis, no.

BlowDryRat · 06/11/2021 14:15

Salutations to the fellow liker of Horace.
