Stuck between these two, which would you choose and why?

OP posts:

I have a Fiona. She’s nine. It seemed like a simple classic name that was a bit Celtic in origin.

DelphiniumBlue · 03/11/2021 18:01

Fiona.
Because there is at least one Sophie/Sofia in every class I have been in for the last 2 decades. I haven't met a young Fiona since the 90's. And it is a lovely name, strong and historical. And everyone can pronounce it.

Twizbe · 03/11/2021 18:03

Fiona, much less common than Sophie.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 03/11/2021 18:03

Fiona would seem fresher on a baby as Sophies are ten a penny these days.

PinkSyCo · 03/11/2021 18:28

Oh is Fiona making a come back? It’s actually a really pretty name and not as common as Sophie.

sageandbasil · 03/11/2021 18:28

Sophie

AliceMcK · 03/11/2021 18:29

Fiona definitely

heyyellowyellow · 03/11/2021 18:34

Fiona - it’s a bonnie, bonnie name.

MajorCarolDanvers · 03/11/2021 18:35

Both are beautiful.

Sophie edges it for me. But you wont go wrong with either.

Sleepinghyena · 03/11/2021 18:36

Fiona

toastofthetown · 03/11/2021 18:37

Fiona. Sophie is so common it makes it rather dull.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/11/2021 18:45

Fiona. Definitely.

Duploisthebest · 03/11/2021 18:46

Fiona for sure.

Aspiringmatriarch · 03/11/2021 18:46

Fiona. It's a beautiful name. Sophie is nice too but there are soo many Sophies around.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 03/11/2021 18:49

Bored of Sophie. I know one Fiona and shes awesime.

brambleon · 03/11/2021 18:53

I like Fiona

Hummingbirdcake · 03/11/2021 18:54

Sophie.

bekindbekindbekind · 03/11/2021 18:57

I think Sophie is nicer but Fiona a bit more original ☺️

BungleandGeorge · 03/11/2021 18:59

There’s an equally large number of Fiona’s around, it’s not particularly unusual. There just aren’t many that are children! I don’t know that many Sophie’s either (more Sofia) I think both are nice, any go wrong with either really

DramaAlpaca · 03/11/2021 19:00

Fiona, it's really lovely. Sophie is gorgeous too, but Fiona is much rarer now.

Tal45 · 03/11/2021 19:02

Sophie is more popular for a reason IMO. Although I prefer Sophia personally. Fiona is quite a hard sounding name I think and the only one I know is over 50.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 03/11/2021 19:03

Fiona! Because long time no Fiona.

Treecreature · 03/11/2021 19:05

Sophie is so much nicer.

Cruiser123 · 03/11/2021 19:08

Go with Fiona 😊 it's my name, so I'm biased.

bloominglovelyorange · 03/11/2021 19:08

Much prefer Sophie
