this is a name that I have recently fallen in love with after a hearing a mum shout her little girl Honey in the park...

I'm honestly obsessed with it and love it!! What do you all think x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wonderbegone · 03/11/2021 14:17

If you were calling a child honey I would just think you were calling a child a cute saying like sweetheart. As a name it's a no from me.

Pac35 · 03/11/2021 14:18

I love it!

Amberflames · 03/11/2021 14:18

It’s a great name if she wants a career as a stripper.

LovePoppy · 03/11/2021 14:18

It’s not my choice

But it’s certainly not offensive

Morgantowers · 03/11/2021 14:18

Wasn't Honey a character in EastEnders about 10 years ago?

yikesanotherbooboo · 03/11/2021 14:19

You can call your daughter Honey without it being her actual name.

becca3210 · 03/11/2021 14:20

Cute as a child but doesn't work for an adult.

Comedycook · 03/11/2021 14:21

I think it's gorgeous

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 03/11/2021 14:21

Feels very 'celeb's baby born in 2005'.

yogafairy · 03/11/2021 14:23

I know an elderly lady called Honey. It's a beautiful name.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 03/11/2021 14:26

I think it's batshit crazy

you might as well name her Sweetheart, Dear or Treacle and watch her head spinning every time some sexist, misogynistic, mansplaing arsehole addresses a woman in a condescending, patronising manner

don't do it.

DotDotDotDotDot · 03/11/2021 14:30

Agree with the previous poster, you can call her Honey all you like without putting it on her birth certificate.
I call my DD Pumpkin #not her actual name!!

Feelingofftoday · 03/11/2021 14:32

Nope

Whiff of stripper about it

And as pp said a gift for sleazy men

Amazes me how many people want a cute name for a baby but don't realise it's a whole life sentence ..

Sexnotgender · 03/11/2021 14:32

It’s not my taste.

Spoonio · 03/11/2021 14:33

No.

RavingAnnie · 03/11/2021 14:38

I love it too! 😊

BananaPB · 03/11/2021 14:48

I knew a Honey born in 2006 and get sorry for her tbh. She was generally pretty sweet and mild tempered but I'd find it weird that her name was a romantic name like Love or Darling iyswim. Do you call your h hun?

NarcissistsEyebrows · 03/11/2021 14:48

Nope

It's sweet in an infantalising way.

Give her a proper name and a proper chance to become a proper adult.

Call her honey at home when you want to, then Catherine or whatever the rest of the time.

There is definitely something a bit pervy about a young child named honey. Sorry OP, but you did ask...

Dumpling89 · 03/11/2021 14:53

Perhaps as a middle name?
It's cute, but not sure how it would translate into adult life.

Fl0w3ry · 03/11/2021 14:57

Honey is a character on Eastenders and she is an extremely ditsy person, almost child-like, probably why the name was chosen for her.
I would say no. Maybe give it to her as a middle name instead so it’s an option you can use or she could agree to in the future.
In the world we live in now I think the name would stand out for all the wrong reasons. She would also be known as ‘hun’ - the word every patronising person on SM use for each other.

Monday55 · 03/11/2021 15:11

It's a No from me. Your child will spend most of his/her years on earth as an adult. Sounds cute for a baby name but not an adult name.

TopTabby · 03/11/2021 15:13

Not for me, does anyone remember Honey G from X Factor?

JudgementalCactus · 03/11/2021 15:15

Yikes! Why don't you want your daughter to have a chance at being taken seriously in a professional job one day?

You might as well buy her stripper shoes and cover her in glitter!

SpangoDweller · 03/11/2021 15:15

Good name for a Labrador puppy. Not great for a child.

SirSamuelVimes · 03/11/2021 15:16

Noooooooo.

All of the no.

Definitely no.

NOPE.
