I have a similar name too honey and I'm 25 with a great career and have lived a completely normal life with most people not caring at all about my name. Stop pretending that someone's name makes that big of an impact on their lives

Well according to MN you can only be successful with a high powered career if your name is Catherine, Elizabeth or Annabelle. Your cv gets thrown in the bin apparently if your name is unusual or worse 'made up', the horror Shock Grin

One of my best friend's daughter is Honey kitty - she's a lawyer (28) and loves her name. Go for it!

Erictheavocado · 03/11/2021 19:43

When I started secondary school in the early 1970's , there was a fifth former whose name was Honey. She had the loveliest personality and physically, the name suited her as well - gorgeous golden hair, and really stunning to look at. She would be in her mid 60's now. More recently, I've known another Honey, this time primary school age. The name really suited her too.
If you like the name, use it. Frankly, I find it far more appealing than a lot of the 'grandparent' type names that seem to be popular right now.

What about gorgeous elegant name Honor with nn Honey!

ThatLibraryMiss · 03/11/2021 19:47

@DoesHePlayTheFiddle

Honey is lovely. A beautiful name. Use it. Add a flower for the middle name.
Surely flower first is better? Clover or Heather spring to mind, or maybe Acacia or Lavender.

Wouldn’t that be quite weird, as you don’t pronounce the ‘H’ in Honor’?
DogCatRabbit · 03/11/2021 19:49

You alright hun?

millzcrawf · 03/11/2021 19:49

@DemBonesDemBones

No one on mumsnet will like it because it's not in the top 10 approved names.

It's a bit sex industry.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 03/11/2021 19:55

DD’s friend was called Honey and was very girly. She’s changed her name to George at 14 and now says she’s a boy. Basically, call her whatever you love and if she doesn’t like it she’ll change it anyway.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 03/11/2021 19:57

@ManifestingWisdom well it would take a certain type of person to know that I guess. I’m not up on my top 10 sex industry names.

It's a bit sex industry.
🤣🤣🤣
ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 03/11/2021 20:05

@NeedaHoliday2021

I'm gonna look for it, but I'm pretty sure Crystal is up there

NeedAHoliday2021 · 03/11/2021 20:11

Well, I work with a Crystal and she’s on a 6 figure salary and the job role doesn’t involve sex so I don’t think it’s mandatory.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 03/11/2021 20:12

The only sex worker I know is called Olivia.

ManifestingWisdom · 03/11/2021 20:15

Thats why i suggested honor. Id be so surprised if she got to 45 and thought i really love my name, its so me.

TuftyMarmoset · 03/11/2021 21:05

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba

just looked it up and I was right about Greek but wrong about translation

as PP said Melissa means bee.
but the name comes from the word "Meli" which means honey.
Apologies for misinformation.
I knew a Melissa who was nicknamed Meli and she told me her name meant honey - so I thought she meant her full name! my bad

and whoever said to not give a name that means something else - you must be joking.
People choose or disregard names become of what they mean all the time so your argument is invalid.
I like the name Caleb but it means dog and as much as I love dogs I didn't want to call my boys that.
Same with Rufus, it means red and somehow that didn't sit right, despite red being my favourite colour!

I love the name Philippa but I don’t like horses Hoping to have a boy to avoid this conundrum!
ZoChan · 03/11/2021 21:23

My Canadian relative (of Dutch decent) is Honey. And she's lovely.

Lightswitch123 · 03/11/2021 21:25

Someone I work with has a daughter called honey. Her real name is honor.

tiredisnottheword · 03/11/2021 21:59

Fearne Cotton’s dd is Honey Chrissie(?). She has strawberry blonde hair and I always thought it was sweet - but can see how it wouldn’t carry well in adulthood and I never though of the patronising/sex-worker connotations!
I wouldn’t OP

Lalliella · 03/11/2021 23:20

🤢 please don’t. It’s awful. Would you like to be called Honey? Seriously? She’d be the butt of lots of jokes and a fair amount of sleaze.

Honey Boo-Boo!

PeriChristmas · 04/11/2021 22:06

I prefer Sunny.

clpsmum · 05/11/2021 06:00

I have never known or heard anyone in real life that's been bullied because of a name!!
