I associate it with a beautiful Irish Wolfhound I once knew. I think because of that I probably consider it to be a dog's name. That's just me though Smile.

PinnyPencher3 · 26/10/2021 15:21

I like it though I’d look at other spellings.

isitfridayyettttt · 26/10/2021 15:22

@PinnyPencher3 like Shae?

I like it, it's a nickname for Seamus to me but if your in the UK probably better just to use the phonetic spelling of the nickname.

TatianaBis · 26/10/2021 15:33

Redneck Essex.

Rosesareyellow · 26/10/2021 15:34

Shae. Prostitute on GOT. But it is a nice name.

Boo65 · 26/10/2021 15:44

I love the name but spelt Sé

RavenclawsRoar · 26/10/2021 15:52

I've taught a boy called Shay. I don't particularly like it, although can't really tell you why!

Hellocatshome · 26/10/2021 15:56

I dont mind it but dont love it.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 26/10/2021 16:03

I really like it. Sadly I know a horrid teenager called it.
Am I dreaming that I've seen it spelt Chè?!. Possibly a completely different name though 🤔

TertiusLydgate · 26/10/2021 16:04

I really dislike it, sorry.

Round these parts it’s akin to Kai or Jayden.

Nearlytheretrees · 26/10/2021 16:05

I know a che and shay, prefer the shay spelling

OtterAndDog · 26/10/2021 16:05

@TatianaBis

Redneck Essex.
I like it but I am redneck Essex Grin
LoathesomeLinsey · 26/10/2021 16:05

I dislike it, but I love Seamus.

nitsandwormsdodger · 26/10/2021 16:09

Hate shay too close to shat or slay or lay
Knew a v bad shay bad boy name
Also it should be che as Guevara Argentinian revolutionary

Firesidefox · 26/10/2021 16:10

Sounds chavvy to me

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 26/10/2021 16:11

One of the nicest boys ever at school was called Shay. I like it entirely because of him.

Aquamarine1029 · 26/10/2021 16:12

I love it, but prefer Shae.

DeJaDont · 26/10/2021 16:16

@Rosesareyellow

Shae. Prostitute on GOT. But it is a nice name.
This. I can't ever not associate the name with that woman. Especially in the books where Tyrion repeatedly asks "where do whores go?". So yeah. When I hear the name that sentence pops into my head immediately.
daisypond · 26/10/2021 16:19

No. Seamus is fine, though.

itsgettingwierd · 26/10/2021 16:20

I have actually met a lad called Shay recently having never heard of it before.

I like it.

Cantstopthewaves · 26/10/2021 16:21

It's a bit common in the non-popular sense. Sorry.

iklboogiemaninthecloset · 26/10/2021 16:29

I love the name but spelt Sé

The fuss made on here about not naming a kid Ann because it's hard to spell, no way would I name a boy Sê!

And HOW is Shay 'chavvy'?

Monsterpumpkins · 26/10/2021 16:33

My ds Shay is 13 next week. He isn't chavvy either!
Named after a Newcastle United football player..
He said he would have preferred Seamus though.

XingMing · 26/10/2021 16:36

The only Shay I know is female.
