We are planning our second baby soon and if we have a girl I love the name Winter. However, surname will be Williams and I'm not sure if it sounds too much? Any thoughts would be welcome and also middle name ideas :) Thanks.

I think it's a lovely combination and not 'too much'.

Winter Juliet
Winter Coralie
Winter Rebecca
Winter Elodie
Winter Sophia
Winter Lucia

What if she was born in, say, July though?

AnotherLauraLou · 11/10/2021 12:45

I love the name but really don’t like it paired with Rose as it’s just a bit predictable.

Frazzledd · 11/10/2021 12:46

Then she'll be a Winter Warmer..

I love the name OP!

HelplessAndLost · 11/10/2021 12:46

I love it, it’s really nice. I’d definitely consider it if I had any more DC.
I know an Autumn and a Summer, never thought to ask which season they were born in as it doesn’t matter.

Theraindropss · 11/10/2021 12:49

I love it but don’t think it goes with your surname.

Samzzz · 11/10/2021 12:50

Lovely mn suggestions, thank you. Really like Juliet.

Lovely choice, goes well with surname so no worries there.
Wouldn't worry too much about wether baby is born in winter either look at the names May, August, Summer, India... All are in use regardless of whether or not child was born then or there go with what you love.

Frazzledd · 11/10/2021 12:53

@Theraindropss

I love it but don’t think it goes with your surname.
I disagree, I think alliterations (well, most!) are lovely, especially with girls names.
Balonzette · 11/10/2021 14:19

I think Winter Williams sounds great!

Lifeinthescratcher · 11/10/2021 14:25

Love the name, Winter but think of it for a boy🤷‍♀️ Its too much with your surname, how about Autumn?

Blubells · 11/10/2021 14:26

Winter Williams sounds great!

TumtumTree · 11/10/2021 14:27

I love Winter but personally I think Winter Williams is 'too much'.

IdblowJonSnow · 11/10/2021 14:27

I like it but think it needs a very short middle name. Also don't think it's too much with Winter.

alpinerain · 11/10/2021 14:28

I love Winter! I think it sounds good with your surname.Smile

GreyhoundG1rl · 11/10/2021 14:29

Winter Williams sounds like a character from the Beano. I'm not a fan of naming children after the season they were born in anyway, what's the point?
Winter is a dreary name.

TheSpiral · 11/10/2021 14:29

Personally I am not keen, for me it sounds cold and grey and a bit harsh and old. I imagine someone with silvery hair. Summer, spring and autumn are pretty months, winter not so much.

TheSpiral · 11/10/2021 14:30

Seasons! Not months.

canyoutoleratethis · 11/10/2021 14:32

Winter Williams is a beautiful name OP, go for it!! Your surname deserves to have a little Winter Grin

DFOD · 11/10/2021 14:34

I don’t like it - for me it has connotations of bleak, cold, grey, damp …. not something that I could associate with a new born - although as a grown adult it could some gravitas - could a performer with that name.

alpinerain · 11/10/2021 14:34

Winter sounds warm, cozy and magical to me.

Frazzledd · 11/10/2021 15:17

@alpinerain

Me too! Plus Christmas! I think log fires, sparkly lights, snow...its pretty (and the most, wonderful time of the year 🎶)
TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 11/10/2021 15:21

It's lovely but I don't think it works with Williams, sorry. It's a bit William Wallace so it's either your thing or not. If you love it then go for it and don't let me put you off.

My first name and surname have very similar sounds and it drives me crackers. People get really confused and I have to spell out two straightforward names constantly.

Summer, Autumn, Storm, Amber are all of a similar genre without the alliteration.

HeadNorth · 11/10/2021 15:26

Not with your surname, sorry. My mum chose an alliterated name for me and I hated it. The main reason I changed my name on marriage was to escape my twee and ridiculous name combo. If your surname didn’t begin with a W it would be lovely.

daisypond · 11/10/2021 15:54

I quite like Winter, but I’m not sure of it alongside Williams. It would need a longer, classic middle name, definitely not a one-syllable one.
