A sister for Alice

We have just found out we are having DD2. DD1 is called Alice. It is a name I have always loved and was very set on the name in my first pregnancy. I know it gets mixed reactions here but it really suits DD1 and she loves it. She likes the wonderland connection and her room is decorated with prints etc from the book. I would love to find another girl’s name that also has a strong connection to a story and the possibility of nice prints, etc.
Names that could work but we can’t use as key family members already have the name are:
Matilda, Sophie and Clara.
Any ideas welcome, thanks

Hermione - Harry Potter
Arrietty - The Borrowers
Lyra - His dark materials
Dorothy- Wizard of Oz

I say this kindly but your dd won’t always be a little girl, and looking for a name that you can fit a nursery theme around isn’t the way I’d go. And I say that as the mother of an Alice, so I share your love for your dd1s name.

Lucy (Narnia series) and Charlotte (with the web) are nice with Alice.
Or how about Scarlet or Ruby, and use the red connection with red riding hood?

WeasilyPleased · 04/10/2021 23:03

Jemima as in Puddleduck? Beatrix Potter would make a great theme.

You can't call a child Arrietty!

See I love the name Alice and was all set to offer a list of names I also love (Harriet, Mabel, Sophie, Nina, Cora) but then I read about wanting to tie it into a theme and I just don;t know what to say?

wasn't Charlotte from Charlotte's web a spider? The prints there will be rubbish surely?!

Think you should just go for a name you love and forget trying to link it to a nursery theme?

MrsBertBibby · 05/10/2021 11:18

Dear God you can't call a child after Daisy in The Great Gatsby! Have you not read it?!

SugarPlum10 · 05/10/2021 12:42

Cicely - Flower Fairies? Or too many ‘sis’ sounds with Alice?

youvegottenminuteslynn · 05/10/2021 12:45

Alice and Holly is a lovely combination
