It’s fine. Perhaps a bit dated. The Marthas I know are in their 20s now. I find it a bit of a drudge name, though.

It's a very frumpy and ugly name. I also think of The Handmaid's Tale.

Love it. Old-fashioned in the best sense. Classy but not snobby. Wholesome and pretty but not frilly; different from the swarm of Evie/Ellie/Eva/Avas.

She'd have sisters called Hester and Prudence.

My only experience is an awfully entitled and manipulative girl I went to school with who grew into an even more entitled and manipulative woman. I’m sure there are plenty of lovely Marthas around, but it’s been sullied somewhat for me!

I really love the name and haven’t been put off but I’m really struggling to imagine a baby Martha! Hoping if we go for it she will grow into her name and not be horrible like some of the Martha’s on this thread
