I think it’s a grounded no nonsense kind of name. The few Marthas I know are lovely people.

Ah Martha was my favourite DW companion. She’s vastly underrated and it’s a beautiful name.

I think of the Bible story where Martha does all the work but Jesus prefers Mary because she sits there listening to him and occasionally saying "Oh Jesus, you're so holy and smart and wonderful".

That’s what like about it, because Martha says, ‘Fuck this shit, can she not listen and cook at the same time?’ Even though Jesus is disappointingly mealy-mouthed about it all.
