I also like Clara, husband loves Eve but I'm not sure because it's quite popular at the moment!

Love the name Lola! ❤️

flingoo · 06/08/2021 19:31

She was a showgirl

SunShinesBrightly · 06/08/2021 19:31

So many Eves around. She’ll be one of 5 in her class!

Clara is nice but I like Lola the best!

HungryHippo11 · 06/08/2021 19:32

L-O-L-A Lola

whistlers · 06/08/2021 19:35

@HungryHippo11

L-O-L-A Lola
I fucking LOVE this song. But yes, it's about a drag Queen.... sigh

"Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman but talked like a man
Oh my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola
La-la-la-la Lola"

It's actually a nice name though!

Funny you should say that. My daughter is Eve and is the only one in her year group of 90. Lots of Sophia, Phoebe and Ellie/Ella though.

And an absolutely great song!

Clara is my favourite out of your 3 choices.
Lola was showgirl or Charlie and Lola.

mewkins · 06/08/2021 19:36

Showgirl or drag queen. Grin
I like Clara.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 06/08/2021 19:36

My first thought was “stripper name” if you want brutal honesty.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 06/08/2021 19:38

Lola - Sad song about a transvestite by The Kinks.
Clara - Sad a friend had a hamster called Clara.

Marlena1 · 06/08/2021 19:38

I like all three. If you think Lola might be too much, maybe Leila/Lila.

ScantRegard · 06/08/2021 19:40

I think Lola is a bit brassy.

Lillith111 · 06/08/2021 19:41

I like Lola. Everyone's called eve

BungleandGeorge · 06/08/2021 19:41

If you look at the baby name charts Lola has been consistently more popular than Eve. I prefer Eve and Clara to Lola. I don’t like the Claire-a pronunciation though so would probably go with Eve!

What do you mean, brassy?

I LOVE the name Lola ❤️

Forget all the Kinks/Manilow comments! Most people as she's growing up won't ever hear those songs (plus, they're great tunes!)

Also love Eve and didn't realise it's fashionable right now (don't know anyone with babies). Clara would be my least favourite of the three names.

I’m afraid it makes me think of either a stripper or the song too.

Love Clara though

actiongirl1978 · 06/08/2021 19:43

Love lola. My friend has a DD with that name, usually shortened to Lo.

CoddledAsAMommet · 06/08/2021 19:45

Lola = Strippers or pugs.

Cornettoninja · 06/08/2021 19:45

I know all of the negatives of Lola but I still love it. I don’t much like it’s meaning though (sorrows).

Apparently Lola is a nn for Aloisia which is is lovely.

BungleandGeorge · 06/08/2021 19:46

Just the normal ons stats www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/livebirths/bulletins/babynamesenglandandwales/2019

There are quite a lot of Lola’s around, there really aren’t many Eves. I don’t know a single child named Eve. There are similar sounding Evie, Eva etc though

Yes I didn't realise it comes from Dolores and means Lady of the Sorrows. It's such a happy sounding name!
