I also like Clara, husband loves Eve but I'm not sure because it's quite popular at the moment!

Lola is far more popular than Eve here. It merges in with the Layla's and Lila's.

Onlinedilema · 08/08/2021 05:27

She was a show girl for me too.

Pinchoftums · 08/08/2021 05:39

@LolaThePuppy don't worry about being identifying. Our park has 4 Lola dogs I can think of!

Kanaloa · 08/08/2021 05:49

I like Lola, Clara, and Eve! I would say Evie is very popular so I see why that would put you off. Out of Lola and Clara I prefer Lola but both are nice.

Kanaloa · 08/08/2021 05:51

Also, it reminds me of Charlie and Lola which we used to read every morning as DD was obsessed. I liked them as well by the end! Still have a soft spot for Soren Lorenson and Lotte.

I hate Lola.

Eve is nice, people might think it's short for something so she might have to keep saying no, it's just Eve. But I like it.

Clara is nice but I prefer Clare.

What would people think it's short for?

I've always known Eve as a full name. Like in that well know book!

Short for Dolores which means pain.

@Twokitstwokats

Short for Dolores which means pain.
Slightly more nuanced, 'lady of the sorrows' and is related to the Virgin Mary.

Lola is nice but the ones I’ve met have been a mixed bag. Clara on the other hand is just gorgeous, I would have used it myself by my Sil has a daughter named Lara. I used to go to see the nutcracker every year at Christmas with my grandmother. I’m sad I couldn’t use it.

User135792468 · 08/08/2021 08:04

Op, Eve can be short for Evelyn, Evangeline etc.

I do wish my husband liked Clara as much as I do!

Listen to the Kinks song, then decide if you like the name.

whistlers · 08/08/2021 08:06

@User135792468

Op, Eve can be short for Evelyn, Evangeline etc.
"The name originally was used a surname, which derived from Aveline, a feminine Norman French diminutive of the name Ava.[2]Ava itself is a hypocoristic Germanic name, of uncertain origin.[3]"

Although I do see your point.

It's one of my favourite songs...

I like the sound of Lola, but not the association with Lolita (the paedophilia themed book/movie). Just something to consider...

inappropriateraspberry · 08/08/2021 08:10

I love Clara! It's in a few old children's stories like Heidi, and I've always thought it was a lovely name.

inappropriateraspberry · 08/08/2021 08:11

And Lola makes me think of Barry Manilow, the Kinks song or Lolita.

Notgotanyidea · 08/08/2021 08:11

As soon as I saw your options, Clover came to mind. Sort of incorporates Clara, Lola and Eve.

I think your thinking! But I think of cows!

I know an amazing girl called Lola - named after the Kink’s song. It’s a great name. She’s strong, quirky and very smart! Beautiful name x

Dolores is a lovely name with religious connotations (it means our lady of pain, the Virgin Mary).

Notdoingthis · 08/08/2021 08:25

But in Spanish Dolores literally translates to pain.

Rolypolybabies · 08/08/2021 08:27

I have a Lola, she is the happiest, loveliest kid. She was called Florence for the first week we had her and I'm so glad we changed it. Fabulous name. She loves it when every dog is called Lola in the park and her nickname is Lollipop. Go for it Grin
